Horizon High Chorus

Horizon Chorus just got back from an absolutely amazing tour of Nashville, Tennessee! We had four full days of music, memories, and museums. The students were incredible and respectful, so much so that our bus driver teared up, thanking them for keeping the bus so clean.

Performing at the Country Music Hall of Fame and recording at RCA Studio B was absolutely the highlight of the trip. Our set list included “Will the Circle be Unbroken,” which has a new emotional attachment to our ensemble after hearing it performed in the Grand Ole Opry tour intro video, bringing many students (and myself!) to tears.

Students and chaperones both shared how much they learned about music history, thanks to the interactive museums we visited. The curators in Nashville know what they are doing! While we weren’t all Country Music fans at the start of the trip, we certainly gained an appreciation to the music and roots of most of the music we are fans of. We are all coming back a bit more country!

Nashville Day 1 Recap!

Our first day started off great - the bus taking us to the airport got to school 40 minutes before we were expecting it to be there, and got us to the airport ahead of schedule. Security was a walk on when we got there, so it was a quick process. The plane was 45% full, so it was basically a private flight!

We spent the afternoon exploring Broadway and enjoying the beautiful weather. Then, we visited the National Museum of African American Music, which was one of the best museums I’ve ever been to!

After an impromptu performance in the museum lobby, we traveled to Peg Leg Porker for dinner. It was delicious!

Catch us on the news tomorrow morning after we sing for the 5k racers! We will be performing on Good Morning America between 8 and 9 am!

Tune in to Good Morning America from 8am-9am on Thursday, Jan 8. Our Hawk Chorus Program were invited to perform during the last leg of the RunDisney 5K, and after they finish singing at the race, our seniors will be performing live on Good Morning America!
