Yesterday, WSSU University Police Department was proud to participate in the Step Towards Hope: WSSU Su***de Prevention Awareness Walk alongside our WSSU community.

Together, we walked to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind our Rams: You are not alone. ❤️🤍

Yesterday, our FYE students participated in a campus scavenger hunt to learn more about campus and the resources available to them!

One of their stops was University Police, where they were tasked with getting a picture with an officer. Chief Henry was happy to make himself available and spend a little time connecting with our students.

We’re always happy to see our students stopping by and getting to know the officers who are here to support them! ❤️🐏

As Winston-Salem State University enters Year 3 under Chancellor Bonita Brown's leadership, the focus is on student success, from recruitment to access and enrollment through graduation and career outcomes.

WSSU is welcoming its highest enrollment since 2021. This fall, 5,210 students are calling WSSU home, including 1,120 first-time freshmen with an average incoming high school GPA of 3.4. We have the highest graduate enrollment of 681 in a decade.

We aren't just growing.

The Winston-Salem State University Police Department has officially challenged our brothers and sisters at the Norfolk State University Police Department!

On August 29, 2026, our football teams will take the field ready to compete, battle, and represent their universities with pride!

But while our football teams battle it out on the field, WSSU PD and Norfolk State University PD stand together in unity, professionalism, and respect.

This is what HBCU pride is all about competition on the field, camaraderie off the field, and respect for one another every step of the way.
