📣 We're Hiring: Deputy Chief Herald of Ireland (Assistant Keeper Grade I)
The National Library of Ireland is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished professional to join the Office of the Chief Herald as Deputy Chief Herald of Ireland. This unique and prestigious role offers the opportunity to play a central part in preserving, promoting, and developing Ireland's heraldic and genealogical heritage.
As Deputy Chief Herald, you will support the Chief Herald in delivering the State's heraldic functions, leading complex heraldic and genealogical research, overseeing the granting and registration of arms, and ensuring the integrity of the Register of Arms and associated records. You will provide operational leadership for the Office of the Chief Herald and the National Library's genealogical service, managing staff, maintaining high service standards, and working closely with specialist consultants, artists, genealogists, and other stakeholders.
The role also encompasses governance and compliance responsibilities, strategic planning, public engagement, and national and international representation. We are looking for an individual with excellent research, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, together with a passion for cultural heritage and a commitment to preserving and promoting Ireland's rich heraldic traditions.
