Our Story
The transition to Kindergarten is a big milestone for young children and their families. For children, it means meeting new teachers and friends, adapting to a different and often larger hustling and bustling environment, and adjusting to new rules and expectations. For families, the transition can bring about a variety of emotions. To support children's transition to Kindergarten, Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools and their community partners, SMART Start and The Forsyth Promise, adopted the Ready Freddy™ approach, developed by the University of Pittsburgh's Office of Child Development.
