Another great article highlighting the staying power of the film Hoop Dream as it celebrates its 30th anniversary! Love to see the continued coverage of this groundbreaking film and how it has impacted the lives of its participants--Arthur Agee and William Gates--and the filmmakers, including our very own DFP Professor of Practice Peter Gilbert.
‘Hoop Dreams,’ 30 years later, remains an unflinching look at chasing basketball glory This year celebrates the 30th anniversary of the critically acclaimed film "Hoop Dreams," which starred Arthur Agee and William Gates.

What a great kick off screening for this season’s Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers! A big thank you to circuit and cinema for bringing the imaginative and captivating film “This World is Not My Own” to Winston-Salem! It was a fantastic double feature event for DFP students who attended the Wednesday evening screening at a/perture cinema and spent the following morning in conversation with Director Petter Ringbom in the Doc Storytelling I class. Thank you for generously sharing valuable insight into your journey with this film and the all the ways in which you, and co-director Marquise Stillwell, sought to honor the creative spirit of Nellie Mae Rowe and the unique friendship she shared with Judith Alexander.
We are looking forward to the next Southern Circuit film!🎥✨
