We want to take a moment to highlight the Black Women in Leadership Luncheon hosted by the North Carolina Black Alliance. The annual luncheon celebrates the rise of Black women in leadership roles in state organizations and civic groups across North Carolina. The luncheon also aims to foster relationships among established and emerging leaders, while expanding networks!

We are excited to announce this year’s BLSA Banquet Speaker, Ms. Kamay Lafalaise!

Ms. Lafalaise is a distinguished privacy and data security attorney currently serving with the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Division of Privacy and Identity Protection. In her role, Ms. Lafalaise represents the FTC in critical investigations addressing deceptive practices under Section 5 of the FTC Act, embodying a commitment to integrity and public service that aligns with our theme, “Embracing Our Legacy: Dream, Achieve, Inspire.”

Her professional journey demonstrates a clear trajectory of ambition and achievement. Prior to her current position, Ms. Lafalaise was a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, playing a pivotal role in shaping the President’s Budget for essential health services programs. Her diverse public service experience further includes a detail assignment with the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of General Counsel, as well as internships with prominent institutions such as the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the National Institutes of Health.

A proud graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law and the University of Florida, Ms. Lafalaise exemplified leadership and scholarly excellence during her tenure at Wake Law as Symposium Editor for the Journal of Law & Policy. Her career path serves as an inspiration, highlighting how dedication, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence can drive meaningful impact. We are honored to have Ms. Lafalaise share her journey and insights, as she truly exemplifies how dreams are realized, achievements are celebrated, and inspiration is cultivated within the legal profession.
