On Sunday, March 15, our Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) took over WinstonStarts for an incredible Career Day!

Alma Coles and Renae Irving led the charge, helping scholars navigate online resources to map out their professional journeys.
Denisha Little shared an inspiring look at the diverse career pathways and opportunities available right here at Forsyth Technical Community College.
Our scholars explored new paths, engaged with their peers, and ended the session with a celebration of lunch and prizes. 💗💚

Annually, the Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® awards scholarships to high school seniors residing in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County who plan to matriculate to a four-year college or university. The scholarship awards are intended to provide African-American females an opportunity to achieve their post-secondary educational pursuits.
Scholarships will be awarded in two categories:
1. The Phi Omega Scholarship ($500)- awarded to female high school seniors attending a school in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community service, and leadership.
2. The Pearl Scholarship ($1,000) - awarded to female high school seniors who meet the above criteria but must attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
To be eligible for the scholarship award, female applicants must meet the following criteria:
✅ Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.0
✅ Submit a 300-500 word typewritten essay
✅ Participate in school and community activities
✅ Demonstrate leadership ability
✅ Demonstrate evidence of service designed to improve the condition of underserved groups and/or populations
✅ Plan to attend a four-year college or university, following high school graduation
✅ Submit a transcript, activities resume and senior photo
💗 Completed applications must be submitted on or before March 25, 2026 to the Phi Omega Scholarships Committee email at [email protected].
