The Week of the Young Child 2021 will be celebrated in Forsyth County classrooms April 12-16, 2021. Join us at the WS Fairgrounds on April 16 beginning at 7:15 for a Drive Through Family Fun Night event. Vehicles may enter the fairgrounds at Gate 7 at 2886 Shorefair Drive between 7:15 and 8:30. Families will remain in their vehicles and stop at spaced locations to receive information, books, snacks, bottled water and juice, or other free giveaways from community partners who wish to honor the young children of Forsyth county. One stop families can make is to receive assistance enrolling their child for Pre-K or Kindergarten. While remaining in their vehicle WS/FCS district employees will assist them with online enrollment. Vehicles end up in front of the big screens at The Drive where a video featuring young children sharing their excitement of learning will play on the big screen. Families can sit in their car and watch the video as many times as they’d like before driving away. Audio will be provided over a select FM station. This event is a collaborative effort of WS/FCS, Smart Start of Forsyth County, Forsyth Technical Community College, Family Services, and Child Care Resource Center.

During these times of uncertainty, our daily lives fluctuate and cause a myriad of different emotions. Even if it's just for a few minutes in your day, stop everything and strive to simply be present. Our children need to feel secure, emotionally safe, and loved. This is a time in their development that they are learning to self-soothe, regulate their emotions, communicate how they feel, and express their needs. As parents and caretakers we strive to provide the needs of our children. In this process we can sonetimes forget they are watching how we are self-regulating, self-soothing, communicating how we feel, and expressing our own needs. The MRI of love shows that what a chikd needs most right now is YOU! So take a moment to be fully present and love on your child(ren) to let them know and feel they are emotionally safe, secure, and most importantly loved.
HAPPY THURSDAY 😊
