One look into a therapy room at the CFEC reveals more than just toys and mats–you see essential tools designed to unlock a child's potential for independence.
As we prepare to serve an increased number of children with complex needs this school year, our we are investing in our therapy program to help all of our students reach their goals. Preparations include:
1. Recruiting & Retaining Specialized Staff: Bringing on top-tier therapists who understand complex physical and feeding needs.
2. Launching Pre-K Therapy (Ages 3-5): Funding the continuation of therapies into our Pre-K classrooms for the first time, serving children who don't qualify for the school system's EC preschool program but still need daily support to prepare for kindergarten.
3. Advanced Mobility Equipment: Investing in gait trainers, walkers, custom orthotics, and more for students to use while at school.
4. Speech & Feeding Tools: Upgrading our materials specialized for speech and feeding therapy.
We cannot do this without your support. A gift today ensures that the right tools - and the right people - are waiting for our students when the new school year starts in August. Donate today at https://www.thecfec.org/donate.

When toddlers like Elle* smile, the whole room smiles with them! Elle is naturally easy-going and full of joy. Born with Down Syndrome, she faced significant gross motor delays and required specialized medical care when she arrived at the CFEC last August.
In September 2025, Elle started Physical Therapy. What happened over the past school year is a testament to what happens when expertise meets donor generosity. Elle started the year working hard on basic stability. By December, she was sitting independently, crawling on hands and knees, pulling to stand, and cruising along furniture! At the the end of the school year, Elle's latest milestones include walking with the assistance of orthotics and a gait trainer or walker, as well as some great progress in areas of fine motor and communication skills through her hard work in Occupational and Speech therapies.
We want to provide this level of transformative care to every single child who walks through our doors this August. With an increase in enrollment of students requiring services, we need to expand and invest in our therapy services before the school year begins.

If you’ve ever walked through the Centers for Exceptional Children, you know that learning and growing never stop. Students needing Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapies thrive when these services are continuous, high-quality, and accessible for their families.
That’s why this summer, we are expanding our therapy services into the summer months, regardless of whether a student is enrolled in the summer program, to ensure our students don't experience a "summer slide" in their physical, occupational, speech, and feeding milestones.
Looking forward, with more students with disabilities and special healthcare needs enrolling, our need for year-round Occupational, Physical, Feeding, and Speech Therapies has increased.
To support this growth, we must expand our specialized staff and invest in new adaptive equipment before the new school year begins.
Please join in supporting our school’s growth and expansion by making a gift at https://www.thecfec.org/donate.
