With the Spring 2026 semester of the WSSU DPT Program coming to an end this past week, we celebrate 2 of our amazing Faculty who were recently honored as Outstanding Team Members within the WSSU School of Health Sciences!
Dr. Colette Waddell (left) was recognized as "The Maverick", an Innovative Teaching Excellence Award. This award celebrates efforts of faculty who go above and beyond, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment using innovative practices to enhance engagement, retention, and critical thinking.
Dr. Cheyenne Brown (right) was honored as "The Giver", a Service Excellence & Impact Award. This award recognizes service that goes beyond the expected and significantly impacts the university, SOHS, students, and/or community.
Both Dr. Waddell and Dr. Brown are very well deserving of these awards and we are so proud to have them as a part of our WSSU PT Ramily!! Please join us in congratulating them both!

As our 2nd year students wrap up the first half of the Spring semester today and prepare to go off on their first Clinical Experience next week, we celebrate 2 award winners on behalf of the WSSU PT Department!
The Outstanding Clinical Instructor Award was presented to Jen Bent, a 2012 WSSU MPT alumnus, for her amazing mentorship and service to PT students learning out in the field!!
Also, Marc Washington (2nd Year student) was announced as the recipient of the Class of 2027 Emeriti Professors' Emerging Leader Award, demonstrating exceptional qualities, characteristics, and behaviors of leadership and emotional intelligence throughout his first year in the DPT Program!!

On Wednesday, March 4th, our very own Dr. Alicia Emerson (Associate Professor in the WSSU Department of Physical Therapy) will share practical, easy-to-understand information about managing pain beyond common advice. This next installment of the "WSSU 2026 Curiosity Exchange" Community Speaker Series is designed to be supportive, informative and useful for anyone looking for new approaches to daily comfort and care.
It's Free and Open to the Public, so head down to the Forsyth County Central Library and join us for this special event on March 4th at 6:00pm!

WSSU DPT faculty and students attended the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) February 11-14 in Anaheim, CA. They joined over 15,000 attendees for over 400 education sessions and 1,440 posters. One WSSU poster won the top award for social responsibility! Sara Migliarese received her neurologic specialist recertification for the third time- 30 years of specialty neuro rehab! Rams Take Charge of Health!
