Sunshine, fresh air, and hands-on learning made for a great week at SalemKids Summer Day Camp!
This week, our campers helped care for our school's outdoor garden by watering plants and learning the importance of stewardship and responsibility. We're excited to watch both our garden, and our campers, continue to grow this summer!

We are excited to share that Christian King has made his decision to attend Forsyth Technical Community College in the fall!
Christian has been a steady and valued part of the Salem Christian School community. Known for his easy-going personality, respectful demeanor, and positive spirit, Christian has made a lasting impact on those around him.
As he prepares for his next chapter at FTCC, we are excited to see all that God has in store for him. While he will certainly be missed on our campus, we know his future is promising!

A groundbreaking day for young readers and learners at Salem Christian School!
As an official in-school program of the National Institute for Learning Disabilities (NILD), SCS has long benefited from the expertise and impact of NILD through our Discovery Center. Yesterday marked an exciting new chapter as NILD Professionally Certified Educational Therapist Arrin Brammett traveled from Texas to provide Science of Reading training for our entire Lower School faculty.
Why does this matter? Research continues to show that strategies once used primarily to support students with learning differences can benefit all developing readers. These evidence-based practices help struggling readers become confident readers, good readers become great readers, and great readers become exceptional readers.
By investing in this training for every Lower School teacher, Salem Christian School is ensuring that every student receives the strongest possible foundation in reading—regardless of where they are on their literacy journey. We are excited about what this means for our students today and for years to come.

Today, we thank the Lord for the men and women who have so courageously given their lives in service to our country and to us, its people. We pray today also for the families who continue on in their absence, that the Lord would cover them with His peace, His grace and His strength today and every day.

Some students lead from the front, and others lead with quiet consistency. Jacob Martin has done both by sharing his gifts on guitar in praise band while also bringing a calm, respectful presence to the Class of 2026. We are thankful for the way Jacob has been part of the heart of Salem. Congratulations, Jacob!

Thursday we celebrated a huge milestone for our 5th graders: the official SCS “Crossing the Street” ceremony!
As they close the door on their Lower School years, we pause to celebrate the friendships formed, lessons learned, accomplishments earned, and memories made along the way. With parents cheering them on with signs of congratulations in hand, Mrs. Hemphill and our Lower School teachers lovingly sent them across the street, where Mr. Smejkal welcomed them into the next chapter: Middle School.
We are all so proud of these students and excited to watch them continue to grow as Salem Christian Defenders!
