Dessert anyone? Thanks to Mr. Fischer and the cafeteria staff who treated our wonderful faculty and staff to a special luncheon today during parent/teacher conferences!

Each year, Salem Christian dedicates two full days during the first quarter for parent/teacher conferences, giving students a brief break from classes. This gives our teachers the opportunity to spend quality time with parents, share their early assessments and help determine the best path forward for each student's success. It's often a tremendous blessing to the parents, and proves beneficial for students and teachers alike.

Today our school celebrated so many beautiful things today. We promoted Lidz for Kidz and brought awareness to childhood cancer while wearing shades of yellow. The beauty of all this was it’s our dear forever Defender, Emma’s 19th birthday. We miss her every single day and am thankful for the impact she made on strengthening our school, ourselves and faith to live like Emma.

SCS first graders turned remembrance into service through a special 9/11 project honoring Winston-Salem police officers. Students created gift baskets to thank the officers for their courage and commitment to keeping our community safe. When the officers visited SCS to receive the gifts yesterday, they brought a few sweet treats (donuts!), and an unforgettable hands-on learning experience!

Students explored police motorcycles, a squad car and the Hazardous Devices Unit, including a specialized robot used to help safely disarm potentially dangerous devices. One of our favorite moments came when SCS student, Avery, had the opportunity to present the gifts to her father, a WSPD Officer.

We’re grateful to the Winston-Salem Police Department for helping our students connect lessons in service, citizenship, technology and public safety with the people who live them every day.

Kids in the Creek brought science to life with Mrs. East’s fifth grade! The students went outside the classroom to explore the water cycle, examine their environment, and make real-world connections to what they’ve been learning! The best part was getting to learn through hands-on discovery while having an absolute blast getting their feet wet in science!
