For Felecia Penn A'03, the heart of Salem Academy is its community–both the community she was part of as a student, and the community she’s part of now as a member of the faculty. “Salem has created a culture where students feel safe to be themselves,” she said. “And in my role now, community is the key to getting things done and seeing results.” Felecia's story reflects the lasting impact of a Salem Academy education, which inspires students to grow, lead, and–sometimes– return to invest in the next generation of Salem Sabers. Congratulations to Salem Academy alumna Molly Mae Potter '03 on the release of Luminaries: Women Leaders Who Light the Way.
A North Carolina native and Salem Academy graduate, Molly has built an extraordinary career from helping patent Mars Rover technology at NASA to serving as an Air Force flight test engineer and becoming the first woman selected by her special operations unit for a mission in Afghanistan. Following her service, she successfully advocated for Pentagon policy changes expanding access to service dogs for veterans with PTSD and has continued to lead through advocacy and service.
Now, as one of thirteen contributing authors in Luminaries, Molly is helping inspire the next generation of leaders. On its first day, the book reached #1 Best Seller in three Amazon categories, a testament to the impact of these powerful stories.
We're also proud to celebrate Molly as a newly appointed member of the Salem Academy and College Board of Trustees. Her leadership, resilience, and commitment to serving others continue to embody the values of the Salem community.
Luminaries: Women Leaders Who Light the Way is available now on Amazon, with all proceeds benefiting Louder Than Silence, a nonprofit supporting survivors of sexual violence. Congratulations, Molly, on this remarkable achievement. We can't wait to see where this next chapter leads.

Both songs were custom arranged by Travis Murray and recorded and mixed by Music Director Dr. Mike Fitch.

Steeped in art, history, and wide open skies, the Land of Enchantment offered the perfect backdrop for this last hurrah together. From ancient pueblos to river rapids to starlit skies, these young women showed up curious, connected, and ready for everything ahead. We are so proud of them!

Congratulations to Addison '26, this year's Faculty Award recipient, the only honor presented at Commencement!
Her influence is not measured by the volume of activities, but by the presence of her spirit. In every space she enters, she leads quietly and consistently, putting others first while staying rooted in her own convictions.
The faculty and staff see in Addison the very qualities that define the spirit of Salem Academy: integrity, compassion, courage, leadership, and a heart devoted to serving others.
