Our 1st graders got hands-on with a chilly science experiment! Students tested a “blubber glove” by placing one hand in a bowl of ice water with the insulating layer of Crisco and the other hand without it.

The experiment helped them understand how a polar bear’s layer of blubber helps keep it warm while swimming in the frigid Arctic waters. A cool way to bring science to life.

Today, we celebrate the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the rich cultures, traditions, languages, and contributions of the Hispanic community. At St. Leo, we are grateful for the many cultures and experiences that make our school community stronger and more vibrant. As Pope Leo XIV reminds us, our diversity is a gift that can bring us together in hope and shared faith.

Our Student Council finalists visited our Pre-K through 2nd grade classrooms today to present their campaign speeches for the Pre-K–2nd Grade Representative position.

It was a opportunity for our youngest Lions to hear from the candidates and take part in the student leadership process. We’re proud of all the students who stepped forward to share their ideas and serve their school community.

Our Kindergarten Lions had a wonderful time at Homeland Creamery yesterday!

From seeing farm animals to learning more about where our food comes from, it was a fun day of hands-on learning and farmyard adventure. We love getting our students outside the classroom to learn, explore, and make memories together!

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to pray for their families, the first responders, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

Pope Leo XIV reminds us that we are called to be “builders of daily peace” - in our hearts, our families, and our communities.

Pre-K celebrated the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary by having a birthday party for Mary. They drew pictures of themselves doing things Mary wants them to do, like praying the Rosary, going to Mass, and showing others God's love. They worked on fine motor and scissor skills to wrap our gifts to Mary and took them to her statue. They then sang her Happy Birthday and had a sweet treat.
