We celebrated our September Attendance All-Stars today!
Our students who met the Attendance All-Star Challenge joined us for an afternoon of popsicles, outdoor games, and lots of fun. We also held a special drawing and gave away 20 squishies! We had over 147 students who made the challenge! That is a great number! We hope to beat it next time!
We are so proud of these students for making attendance a priority, showing up, and working hard all month long. Every day at school matters, and we appreciate the effort our students and families put into being here and ready to learn.
Congratulations to all of our September Attendance All-Stars! Keep showing up, working hard, and being awesome!

Sprinkling Kindness at Washington!

Today, members of the WHS Student Council visited Washington to help us spread a little extra kindness!

They spent time with our students sharing lessons about kindness, helped them take a pledge to be kind and sprinkle kindness wherever they go, and even stayed to have lunch with our students.

We are so grateful for these incredible high school students and the example they set. Their willingness to give their time, connect with our Bulldogs, and show what it looks like to care for others made today extra special.

Thank you, WHS Student Council, for reminding our students that even small acts of kindness can make a BIG difference!

Bulldogs lead with heart, stand with pride, and never give up

Thank You, Washington Community!

Today, Washington Elementary completed our Reunification Drill, and we want to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make it possible!

Thank you to our Washington staff for staying calm, flexible, and focused on keeping our students safe. Thank you to our families for your patience, cooperation, and willingness to practice this process with us. We are also incredibly grateful to Winslow Police Department and our District Office for being there to support and assist us throughout the drill.

Was everything perfect? No—and that is exactly why we practice. We learned A LOT today. We were able to see what worked well, identify areas we can improve, and better understand what it takes to safely reunite nearly 250 students with their families.

Practicing these procedures helps us be better prepared if we ever face a real emergency, and we could not do it without everyone working together.

Thank you for showing up, being patient, asking questions, and helping us learn and improve.

It truly takes all of us to keep our Bulldogs safe.

Bulldogs lead with heart, stand with pride, and never give up.

REMINDER: Reunification Drill Tomorrow – Friday, September 25

Washington families, this is a reminder that tomorrow we will be practicing our Reunification Drill. This is ONLY a practice drill—there is no emergency.

Our students and staff will transition to the Old Bulldog Gym, where we will practice the process we would use to safely reunite students with their families during an emergency.

Parent/guardian check-out will begin at 11:45 AM.

A few important reminders for families:

Please bring a photo ID if you plan to check out your child.
Check-in lines will be based on your student’s last name: A–F | G–M | N–Z.
If you are picking up multiple children, you only need to get in one line. We will coordinate the rest for you.
After checking in, please wait in the designated parent area inside the gym. Staff will bring your child to you.
Please do not go directly to your child’s teacher or remove your child from their class group.
Students who are not checked out will be dismissed normally at 12:05 PM, and buses will run as usual.
Bikes and scooters cannot go with students to the Old Bulldog Gym. If your child brings one to school Friday, it will remain secured at Washington and will need to be picked up later.

Because this is a drill, the process may take a little longer than a normal checkout. That is part of why we practice! We want to identify what works, what needs improvement, and make sure our students, staff, and families know what to expect if we ever need to use this process during an actual emergency.

Thank you for your patience and for partnering with us to keep our Bulldogs safe!

PAWS FOR PRIDE WINNER! Congratulations to Ms. Vasquez’s 6th grade class, this week’s Paws for Pride winners!

Ms. Vasquez’s class has been showing what it means to follow The Bulldog Way by demonstrating Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness throughout our school.

They have earned the Golden Bulldog and some well-deserved bragging rights for the week!

Way to go, Bulldogs! Keep leading with heart, standing with pride, and never giving up!

Washington Families — Here’s What to Expect Friday!

This Friday, September 25, Washington Elementary will conduct our Reunification Drill. Remember, this is only a practice drill—there is no emergency.

Parent/guardian check-out will begin at 11:45 AM at the Old High School.

When you arrive, staff will help guide you through the process:

Park around the Old High School or along the fence in front of the Girl Scout House.
Check in according to your student’s last name: A–F | G–M | N–Z.
Bring your photo ID. Students will only be released to an authorized person in our school records.
After check-in, you will be directed to the parent waiting area in the gym.
Please do not go directly to your child’s teacher, even if you can see your student. A staff member will bring your child to the designated release area.
Once your student is released to you, you will exit together through the designated back gym doors.

IMPORTANT — BIKES & SCOOTERS:
Students will not be able to take bikes or scooters with them to the Old High School during the drill. If your child rides a bike or scooter to school Friday, it will remain secured at Washington Elementary and will need to be picked up from the school later.

Students who are not checked out during the drill will be dismissed normally at 12:05 PM, and buses will run as usual.

This is our opportunity to practice the process, find areas we can improve, and make sure everyone knows what to expect if we ever need to reunify students and families during an actual emergency. The process may take a little longer than a normal checkout, and we appreciate your patience as we practice.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our Bulldogs safe!

On this rainy morning, I pulled up to school and was greeted by something that made my day.

Lilly and Tyne were outside helping other students get into school without getting too wet. Before long, CJ, Lamar, Jaycen, Grace, and others joined in to help too!

No one asked them to do it. They simply saw a need and jumped in.

Holding umbrellas, helping classmates, and making sure others got inside a little drier—these may seem like small acts, but they say so much about the kind of students we have at Washington.

Kindness. Leadership. Looking out for one another.

Sometimes the best moments at school happen before the first bell even rings.
