Our 8th grade softball team capped off a strong season with a wild day of ball in Show Low on Saturday. The weather this week postponed our quarterfinal match-up with Holbrook twice. The teams finally squared off at 9 am on Saturday at Show Low HS. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Roadrunners 3-0 in 6 innings. That put the Dawgs into the semifinal round at 1 pm against the Mogollon Mustangs. Both teams played their hearts out. Winslow came away with a hard-fought win following a walk-off single that scored a runner from 2nd base in the bottom of the 8th inning. The semifinal win advanced our Lady Bulldogs into the championship game at 3 pm against Round Valley. The Lady Elks jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but our Lady Bulldogs never gave up and mounted a huge rally to pull within 1 run at 9-8. Round Valley was able to silence our bats over the last couple innings and pulled out the 14-8 win. In doing so, the Lady Elks captured the 2026 White Mountain League Softball Championship.

Our Lady Bulldogs finished as the 2026 WML Softball Runners-Up. We are so proud of our Dawgs and their efforts all season and especially on Saturday in which they played 3 games, 20 innings, left everything out on the field, showed everyone a true Bulldog mentality, and played with hearts of a champion! Way to go Bulldogs!

Friday was a great day for our Winslow Jr. High Cross Country Teams! We hosted the White Mountain League Championship Meet at McHood Park.

We had 2 individual champions! Nevaeh Fuson took 1st in the girls' race with a time of 15:00.26. She ran a very impressive race by staying up with the front pack and moving into 1st with a quarter mile to go. Her strong pace allowed her to pull away for a 9 second victory over the 2nd place finisher!

On the boys' side, we had 2 runners take home the 1st and 2nd place spots. Pilanmizu (Sid) Kachinhongva and Five Greer went out strong with 2 runners from Holbrook. The Holbrook runners were in the lead early, but our Winslow runners overtook them about three quarters of a mile in and never looked back. Five Greer ran a strong and consistent race and took over the lead spot around the mile mark. He continued to increase his lead throughout the second mile and took home the 1st place spot with a time of 13:07.60. Sid ran a very impressive time of 13:27.40 for the 2nd place finish.

On the team side, our Bulldogs and Roadrunners have battled all year. The Holbrook girls were able to come out on top yesterday with a very strong showing. Our Lady Bulldogs had a strong challenge for the 2nd place spot from Blue Ridge, but Winslow met the challenge and defeated the Yellow Jackets by 6 points. In doing so, we had 3 of our Lady Bulldog runners finish in the top 10 capturing medals.

On the boys' side, Holbrook and Winslow have flipped flopped team score positions all season. In larger meets, Winslow has often come out on top and in most smaller meets Holbrook bests our Bulldogs. Winslow usually has the top 2 finishers, but Holbrook does a great job of running in a pack and often groups their top 5 runners in the top 15 with one Winslow runner (Dewayne Q.) in the middle of them. On Friday, Winslow was able to break up the pack of Roadrunners, with Dewayne coming in 8th place, Sorin Leonard 9th, Kai Martinez in 14th, and Jaycen Stewart in 15th! As a result, our Bulldogs are the Boys' WML Team Champions with a score of 34 points. Holbrook finished in a close second with 43 points.

It was a fun evening out at McHood Park! Our Bulldogs that captured medals include:

Girls
1st Place - Nevaeh Fuson 15:00.26
5th Place - Kiana Lee 15:43.73
10th Place - Bailey Littleboy 16:23.08

Boys
1st Place - Eric (Five) Greer 13:07.60
2nd Place - Pilanmizu (Sid) Kachinhongva 13:27.40
8th Place - Dewayne Quochytewa 14:33.00
9th Place - Sorin Leonard 14:34.61

Way to go Bulldogs!
