HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT KINDERGARTEN AND THE REGISTRATION PROCESS?
Learn about the day in the life of a kindergartener. In a normal year we would extend the offer to join us at an information session in your community and at each school, where you could hear from kindergarten teachers, talk to our Afterschool team, connect with our Preschool director, and ask questions of the registration team. Due to Covid-19 Restrictions, we are offering alternatives to learn more about our schools. By the end of January, 2021 we will be offering pre-recorded and live introductions to the kindergarten experience and to each individual school. Please check back in late January on our website, this page and Front Porch Forum for more information.
Hi Burlington School District PreK Partners,
Kindergarten registration is now open in Burlington and will remain open through the mid-March. At that time we will place all students who have registered by this time and of course afterwards, we will continue to place newly registered students, but not until those who register by mid-March are placed.

The steps to registering can be found here and are at the end of this email. Please remind your families that when registering for Kindergarten they go into their powerschool account. They DO NOT go to Ecollect for the pre-registration process.
If you or a family needs support registering a student, please contact schools directly or call Kelly McDonald in our central office at 802-865-5332 x1 between 8am and 2pm.

Hello Pre-K families, please note:
If you are a family struggling with child care and are interested in an in-home option, you can contact
Help Me Grow
Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
by dialing 2-1-1 ext. 6,
texting HMGVT to 898211
or by
e-mail at [email protected].
Here are some key points about this resource:
This is an informal resource, HMG provides the information about possible matches to parents and offers follow up with the parents to continue to provide options until a match is made.
HMG does not guarantee a match, is not responsible for the persons on the list and does not act in a negotiator capacity; all arrangements and agreements are between the parent and possible in-home care provider and both should use their judgement as to whether or not it will be a good fit.
Some on the list prefer to be paid while others are willing to volunteer.
The list is made up of medical and nursing students, early educators and K-12 school personnel. All have one or a combination of the following; CPR, first aid, a VT background check.
All have received information on health and safety guidelines put forth by VDH and have included information to us to share with families regarding their social distancing behavior during the pandemic and whether or not they have been knowingly exposed to the novel coronavirus.
The majority of people on the list live in or around Chittenden county with a few in Addison, which is why we are targeting Chittenden county vs. announcing this as a statewide resource.
This is a “stop gap” resource specifically as a response to COVID-19.
The intent is to offer possible solutions to temporary child care need whether it is due to child care/summer camps closing, late re-opening dates or a parent’s concern/uncertainty in sending their children to group care at this time.
The commitment from all persons on the in-home care list is only through August. This will not be a permanent resource service for HMG.
