This isn’t the flex you think it is friends. One of the most trauma-informed things we can do is nurture our own needs. Our fave soft.animal.magic teaches us, “it’s not what you know that heals, it’s who you are”

TIC is relational. And you can’t be in a healthy professional relationship if you are working from a place of scarcity.

What is one way you will nurture yourself today? Let us know in the comments ⬇️

Good news y’all, we exist! We hope this post finds you embracing the healing power of saying “absolutely not” to at least one thing this week. We’ve been practicing that muscle a bit ourselves 😉

2024 was our biggest year yet. From the East Coast to the West Coast, we were hard at work training perinatal providers in all things trauma-informed care. Our community of informed practitioners grew, and our mission to improve outcomes felt more hopeful than ever.

But whew — that year wore us down.

So we practiced what we preach and slowed wayyyy down. We spent 2025 resting and dreaming. 2026 came in fast and fierce, but we started finding our momentum again.

We’ve been creating new content. Refreshing old content. And look! We took new marketing photos :) And while the horrors have persisted, so have we.

Now our calendar is filling up again. From Costa Rica to Nebraska, we’re getting our feet wet and can’t wait to share it all with you ❤️

Check out the website for lots of updates plus all the deets on our upcoming trainings! We hope to see you soon!

XO,
C + A

Our teachings are inspired by a variety of experts. Here are just of a few of the resources we have been reviewing in anticipation of the retreat!

Speaking of which, head to our stories for deets on the unexpected opening we have ✨

As we reviewed registrations from the retreat, we found that the number one intention shared was relaxation. Have you seen the house we get to gather in?! Relaxation is a given, duh.

But the most beautiful discovery came when reading the intentions that tied for second…

✨Connection & Healing✨

We loved this so much because as most of us know, CONNECTION IS THE MEDICINE!

Just being together as a collective fosters healing and growth. We need each other, friends. Lean on your people ✨

Do you follow ?! We love her rest deck and decided to do her 3 card spread in anticipation of the retreat. This spread is what she calls an imagination mood board. The goal is to let the spread tell a story about the rest you are imagining or in this case, the rest we are imagining for YOU ✨

We hope this retreat will leave you feeling free, rested and cared for. We hope you can truly pause and detach from the urgencies that are hard to quiet. We hope that you leave our time together believing that you are more than what you produce and that your worth is deep.

A mantra from Tricia to take with you today:

"I deserve patience, grace, mercy, and care. I deserve to be seen as powerful and tender. I am worthy of a slow and connected, rested life. When I act with urgency, I am ignoring the beauty of what is here right in front of me. I will surrender to the flow of life. I will rest.” 💖

Emily and Amelia Nagoski use Jane Eyre’s “madwoman in the attic” as a way for us to understand self-compassion. They don’t use madwoman to mock or dismiss, but to make space for the parts of us we hide away.

The madwoman is this uncomfortable, fragile part of ourselves that has the impossible, tormenting task of bridging the unbridgeable chasm between us and this “expected us”

Your madwoman might look like anything, but I loved Emily’s comparison to Te Kā, the lava monster from Moana. Spoiler alert for those of you that haven’t seen Moana (what is wrong with you?), Te Kā is angry and broken hearted (Maui stole her heart 🥺).

Moana starts singing to her to help her remember who she truly is (spoiler, she’s Te Fiti, the beautiful green mountain goddess):

They have stolen the heart from inside you
But this does not define you
This is not who you are
You know who you are
Who you truly are

Are you still with me? Am I being too woo?

The point is personifying our own madwoman can help us build a relationship with her, maybe even a friendship. This is self-compassion. An art form in transforming what is broken 💖
