Way back in 2022, and I wrote a really cool chapter about how trauma is a complex concept and how teachers (particularly ELA teachers) can use a multidimensional trauma lens in their work. I was revisiting this recently and I thought...this was such a cool chapter and it deserves to be read more! So I finally scanned it and dropped it into my Google drive. Linking it in my profile. If you want to read a non-wonkily-scanned version and also a bunch of other cool writing about trauma-informed teaching, you can buy the volume from NCTE: search for Special Issues, Volume 2: Trauma-Informed Teaching.

As long as I have time I ALWAYS want to come to your book club! If you're reading either of my books with other educators this summer (or anytime), invite me to drop in! I always have so much fun with these and I love getting to chat with you all.
(Note- this is just for an informal q&a sesh, 30 minutes at the most. If you're looking for a more extensive PD, let's talk!)

New publication! What Teachers Need is out today and I contributed a chapter on my fave, unconditional positive regard. Big idea: when we humanize our students, we humanize ourselves.
Lots of gems across the whole book!
