Responsibilities: Follow through on a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of preschool-aged children.
Follow lesson plans, incorporating a variety of learning experiences such as play-based activities, arts and crafts, storytelling, and group projects.
Provide a nurturing and supportive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior, cooperation, and independence.
Conduct regular assessments of children's progress and maintain accurate records of their developmental milestones.
Collaborate with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns or questions.
Supervise and support assistant teachers, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure a cohesive and effective teaching team.
Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Must meet one of the following:
(1) A high school diploma or commissioner of education-selected high school equivalency certification, and 4160 hours as assistant teacher and 24 quarter credits
(2) Diploma from Association Montessori Internationale; preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certificate from the American Montessori Society, without a baccalaureate degree and 2,080 hours as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern, and 12 quarter credits
3) Preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certificate from the American Montessori Society; or diploma from the Association Montessori Internationale with a baccalaureate degree and 1,040 hours as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern
(4) Minnesota technical institute certificate as a Child Development Assistant and 2,080 hours as an assistant teacher
(5) Child Development Associate credential (center based or family day care) for preschool or for infants and toddlers from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition and 1,560 hours as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern
(6) License from the Minnesota Department of Education for Prekindergarten Associate; or a certificate or credential for a two-year program from an accredited community college or technical college in child development or early childhood education and 1,040 hours as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern
(7) Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in any field 1,040 hours as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern
(8) License from the Minnesota Department of Education for elementary education without kindergarten endorsement and 520 hours as assistant teacher, aide, or student intern if teaching children under school age
(9) License from the Minnesota Department of Education for prekindergarten/nursery, or a license from the Minnesota Department of Education for elementary education with a kindergarten endorsement
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
