NORMAN, Okla. – Winona State head golf coach Jeff Straight was named the 2026 NCAA Division II Golf Pride Grips Central Region Coach of the Year.
 
Straight led the Winona State men’s golf team to their third straight NCAA Regional following a dominant regular season. The Warriors ended the 2025-26 year with five team victories, including the 2026 NSIC Team Championship. In recognition for Winona State’s success, Coach Straight was also named the 2026 NSIC Coach of the Year.
 
Three Warriors were named First Team All-NSIC, Peyton Coahran was the NSIC Golfer of the Year, and Max Jerichowas the NSIC Individual Champion. Coahran advanced to the final stages of the 2026 NCAA DII Championships and finished tied for 16th overall.

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. – Peyton Coahran finished the 2026 season at the NCAA National Championship with a score card of 210 (-6) through the 54-hole event finishing tied for 16th place overall.

At Boulder Creek Golf Club this week, Coahran carded a first-round score of 69 (-3) and followed it up with a 73 (+1) during round two. Coahran was able to bounce back in round three with a score card of 68 (-4). Coahran carded 15 birdies and one eagle through the 54 holes of golf in Boulder Creek, Nevada. Coahran was tied for sixth overall in average score on par five holes with a 4.17 and made a tied for ninth place in total birdies with 15.

Coahran finishes the season with 10 top eight finishes including five first place finishes. Coahran was voted the NSIC Men’s Golfer of the Year and was the only NSIC player selected to the 12-member Central Region team. The three-time NSIC Golfer of the Week finished the regular season with an average score of 71.2.

Coahran’s finish is one of the top finishes at the NCAA Division II Championships in Winona State men’s golf history, joining the ranks of WSU Hall of Famers Brian Paulson, Kirk Thompson, Jeff Engbrecht, and other Warriors.

Peyton Coahran of Winona State Men's Golf wrapped up round two at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships with a one-over par 73!

Coahran currently sits tied for 26th overall and will tee off for the final round at 10:58am CDT / 8:58am PDT tomorrow afternoon.
