The Darrell W. Krueger Library is closed today in observance of Juneteenth.

Don't let closures discourage you from reading up on this important commemoration of emancipation: all community members on and off campus in the state of Minnesota can access online library resources with eLibraryMN (elibrarymn.org)

Unsure where to start still? We recommend starting with this set of resources compiled by the Minnesota Historical Society: mnhs.org/juneteenth/sources.

Today is our last Tea Tuesday of the Spring! We also just came across cartoonist Alex Mitchell's "Tea Time" panel from earlier this month in the Winonan. Thanks for highlighting how Tea Tuesday is "is a good way to see others on campus and get some free tea," Alex!

Take a look at their panel at https://winonan.org/16869/arts-and-entertainment/cartoons/tea-time/.

Ever wondered who Holzinger Lodge is named after?

The students at Winona Normal School learned botany in the field -- literally.

Their professor, John Holzinger, taught them during outdoor excursions and through specimens that he had spent years collecting. The Winona Republican-Herald wrote that during his time, Holzinger had “laid the foundation upon which a greater part of the present day men and women of southeastern Minnesota have built their knowledge and love of the outdoors.”

One of the botany classes appears here, about to cycle away to their next open-air "classroom."
