Winona State Mass Communication Department Mass Communication at Winona State is an academic program that can prepare you for a career in Mass Communication.

Our courses provide you with the concepts and skills needed to prepare you to evaluate and develop media messages, to be socially responsible citizens of today’s world and to advance your chosen career. Our curriculum emphasizes both theory and practice. Our students get a grasp of the academic aspects of Mass Comm—like communication theory and research processes—as well as hands-on, nuts-and-bolt

s technical experience. The Mass Communication program offers four concentration areas:

Advertising
Creative Digital Media
Journalism
Public Relations


Our faculty and staff are here to educate you, and to advise you about careers and internships. Recent upgrades to Phelps Hall have expanded our communication labs and equipment. In addition, our student publications and clubs and activities help you turn class learning into professional output.
