Since 2016, Winona State has celebrated Indigenous Peoples' Day as a way to reflect on the impact of colonialism, acknowledge the ongoing struggles faced by Indigenous communities, and celebrate their enduring contributions to our city, state, and nation.

It is a day to reaffirm our collective commitment to equity, inclusion, and the celebration of diverse cultures that enrich our campus community.

In honor of 9/11, Austin Groth — a Winona State University student and volunteer firefighter for the town of Pickwick — memorialized the tragedy by climbing 110 flights of stairs in the Fitness Center in full gear.

We applaud your service as a firefighter and your dedication to honoring the day!
