🎨 PICTURE IT!

Books can create some pretty amazing pictures in our minds! 🎨📖

Tonight, after reading, ask your Buccaneer to choose one scene they could picture clearly.

Then:

🎨 Draw the scene.
🔎 Add details from the text.
💬 Explain why you pictured it that way.
📖 Find words from the book that helped create your mental image.

This is called visualizing, and it's an important reading comprehension strategy!

🎨☕️ Meet Mrs. Lindsey Johnson! ☕️🎨

We’re excited to spotlight Mrs. Lindsey Johnson, who is celebrating her 8th year in education and 7th year at East Chambers Elementary! 💚💛

Teaching is truly in Mrs. Johnson’s blood—she is a 5th-generation educator! Both of her parents were educators, and her dad was even her Art teacher growing up. 🎨 Before following in her dad’s footsteps, Mrs. Johnson earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising, but ultimately found her calling in the art classroom!

One of her favorite things about ECE is the friendships and bonds she has made along the way. She especially appreciates being part of a staff that supports one another and understands the importance of putting family first. To her, ECE is a place that genuinely cares about its people both inside and outside of school. ❤️

As our Art teacher, Mrs. Johnson gets the special opportunity to watch students grow over three years! She loves helping bring their imaginations to life and watching their creativity and confidence blossom from year to year. 🖌️🌟

Outside of school, her favorite role is being a mom—her daughter is her pride and joy! 💕 She also loves photography, traveling to the mountains, salted nuts, chocolate, sweet tea, and Olipop. Her favorite book is Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey, although these days she says movies are a little easier to fit in with a toddler at home! 😄

We are so lucky to have Mrs. Johnson sharing her creativity, heart, and love for students with our ECE Buccaneer family! 💚💛🎨

We’re excited to spotlight Mrs. Anabel Martinez, who has been part of the East Chambers family for 8 years and is now celebrating her first year as a teacher! 💚💛
Mrs. Martinez’s inspiration to become an educator came from the children in our community. She wanted the opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives by creating a classroom where every student feels supported, valued, and welcomed. Her goal is for every child who walks through her door to know they have a safe place where they can learn, grow, and be themselves. ❤️
Her favorite part of teaching is simple—the students! She loves getting to know their unique personalities and describes them as spontaneous, funny, curious, and incredibly smart. They bring something new to the classroom every day and always seem to find a way to make her laugh and smile—even on the busiest days! Most of all, she loves watching her students learn, grow, and become more confident in who they are. 🌟
When she’s not at school, Mrs. Martinez enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, and baking. This summer, she spent 12 days traveling through Europe ✈️🌍, and now she’s already looking forward to her next adventure!
