Child care centers are monitored by surprise visits usually twice per year. TLC also participates in the Youngstar program which is Wisconsin’s child care quality rating and improvement system. Youngstar gives TLC the drive to maintain quality and strive for better. The program gives parents and caregivers the tools and information they need to give their kids a great start—and find quality child care that fits their needs. The Learning Center has been ranked as a 4 star center almost since the inception of the program. Over the years many raters for the Youngstar program and many of our child care licensors have told us what great work we are doing here at TLC!
Of course, from time to time, we have a parent or employee that leaves our facility disgruntled for one reason or another. We are dealing with arguably one of people's most valuable assets so people can be emotional and rightly so.
Operating for over 29 years, of course not everyone has loved their time with TLC. But who leaves reviews? Unfortunately, people that have a bad experience are more likely to leave review than people who have a great experience. It's just our human nature.
On September 11, 2024, the State of Wisconsin child care licensing department came into The Learning Center Daycare LLC for an additional surprise visit due to an employee calling in "violations" and allegations of abuse. MANY varied claims by the caller were made against the daycare owner/director, other employees, the care of children, the ratios maintained, and the records kept. ALL claims were researched thoroughly with a LONG investigation with the state. No violations were found!
Just the same as any other parent, child, employee, center, etc... is not perfect, TLC is by no means perfect BUT we do work HARD to try to do our best. Taking care of children is hard work! I'm sure anyone who has worked in the child care field can relate.
Child Care Staff should be cherished! Great staff is very hard to find! Actually any staff, as many of you know, is very difficult to hire. TLC has high standards for their staff. We want children to have a high quality care experience when they are here.
Our goal has always been to provide quality care when families can't be there. This remains the same.
Do you have what it takes to be a child care staff member? Many don't. I always appreciate the parents that come in and say, "I couldn't do this all day long!". Well, I couldn't do many of your jobs all day long either.
If you are working in a center and you want to leave, just give a notice. You don't need to leave in a whirlwind of complaints to licensing of your own "beliefs" which were all proven false by going through the documentation with licensing. It's not necessary. It is also not necessary to have family and friends leave false reviews. It is immature. Hopefully, people will be smart enough to look at the sources and compare the information to the business and their standing in the community.
So many businesses go through complaints from people unqualified to give them. Please consider where the complaint is coming from before you discount the business. People love to complain but are slow to compliment. It's just the way the world tends to work. Let's start changing that and start seeing and talking about the good happening around us and spreading that!
