On Wednesday, September 9, our WPS mental health team will be doing a presentation on su***de prevention through our adopted program, Lifelines Prevention. 💙

This will take place in the WPS theater at 5:00pm. ⏰

This is adults-only event, but there will be childcare provided.

We encourage our community to attend so we can all work together to promote su***de prevention and support our students, families, and community. 🫶

Tonight we are hosting our back-to-school meeting, in the WPS east practice gym. Dinner will be provided! 🍕

Please note that this event is required for our Academy scholars and families. During this meeting we will be completing paperwork for the 2026-2027 school year. 📄

There is a meet this Thursday, 8/27, at Hartington. You must have the code of conduct and a physical completed in order to run.

Last week, our seventh through twelfth graders participated in the annual Social Studies Olympics! 📚🏅

Students were selected for their teams after being nominated by their teachers! They competed in many events including:

💨Race to sort: students had to quickly identify if the source is primary or secondary.

🏀Shoot to answer: students had to make the basket and answer the question correctly to move on.

🗺️Sort-the-map: students had to correctly categorize each map and complete the challenge quickly!

📝Finally, to determine the winner, teams had to complete a WHAM assignment, in full sentences. The team with the most points won!

Congratulations to our winning team for the 2026 Social Studies Olympics... the Juniors! 🏆

🚗💨 STEM in Action! ⚙️🌬️

One of Ms. Eberly’s classes is putting their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to work! Students are building cars, windmills, catapults, and more through hands-on STEM challenges. 🔧💡

We love seeing our students create, test, problem-solve, and have fun while learning! 👏

On Friday, our second graders participated in an activity involving toothpaste! 🪥

They squeezed the entire tube out then tried to put the toothpaste back in, but it didn't work! They learned that this is similar to our words and actions- that once it is out there ,no matter what you say or do, they cannot be undone.

It reminded them (and us) to think before we speak, especially when our words might hurt someone's feelings! Not to mention, who doesn't love getting to play with slimy goop! 😁
