Last month, we visited CTE Teacher Alicia Meehan's class at Winlock Middle High School to see some of the incredible graphic design and animation projects her students have been working on. Students are using the industry standard digital illustration program Procreate to produce beautiful works of art, as seen in the video. They are also creating animations by building movement frame-by-frame, a time-intensive process that is helping them develop valuable skills for their future.

More recently, students wrapped up a lesson on seamless patterns that transitions directly into apparel and product design; these patterns can be applied to various projects, and even offer students a potential passive income stream once they turn 18.

This February for Michelle's Monthly Message, we visited programs at Winlock School District that are supported by local levy funding, approved by Winlock voters in 2025. Levy funds enable WMES to employ a certified librarian and support sought-after programs like music education. Take a look at a fun-filled library class where students choose their own adventure, and hear from Music & Choir Teacher Jason Kochis about the impact of music in our schools. Thank you, voters.

Our students explored many possibilities for their futures, connecting with representatives from colleges, businesses, and local organizations. A special highlight was seeing our students present their own career boards, showcasing their dreams and ambitions.
