The Wingate nursing faculty attended the 38th Annual Metrolina Council of Nursing Organizations (MCONO) Celebrate Nursing Banquet, one of the premier Nurses Week events held in Charlotte, North Carolina. The banquet honored the contributions and achievements of nurses throughout the region while fostering professional collaboration, leadership, and continued advancement within the nursing profession.

During the event, Vanessa Gamez Tejeda was recognized as a recipient of the Betty Garrison Senior Nursing Student Award. Vanessa was selected for her outstanding patient care, strong advocacy for patients, active involvement in the nursing profession, dedication to community service, and her ability to positively impact those around her. Congratulations to Vanessa on this well-deserved honor!

Today, Wingate University nursing students participated in One Day, One Dog—an annual tradition where Bulldogs unite to give back, serve our communities, and celebrate the true spirit of Wingate.

This year, our nursing students worked alongside fellow Wingate groups and Union Diversified Industries (UDI), demonstrating collaboration, compassion, and service. Through their efforts, they not only made a meaningful impact in the community but also embodied the core values of nursing—caring, advocacy, and commitment to others.

We are incredibly proud of these students for representing the nursing profession with excellence and for continuing to make a difference beyond the classroom.
