Wingate University We believe that education should be personal, affordable and inclusive.

Welcome to the official page of Wingate University, home of the Bulldogs, where students exceed their potential both in and out of the classroom and graduate with prospects and purpose. It should blend in-class exploration with out-of-class application, to deliver an uncommon, life-changing educational experience. At Wingate, we want our students to graduate with prospects and purpose so they can make a difference in their communities and beyond. With just over 3,450 students on two campuses, Wingate’s size is ideal for strengthening leadership, intellectual activity and personal growth. Our main campus is beautiful and easy to navigate, which makes for great outdoor study groups and less getting lost. With a 15-to-1 student/teacher ratio, our faculty go out of their way to make sure that students succeed. Wingate University has built a reputation as a premier academic institution, with over a century of experience. This has prepared us to cultivate in our students the tenets of faith, knowledge and service. The University offers 37 undergraduate majors, 42 minors, five doctoral programs, and other career concentrations, preprofessional programs and graduate degrees. In addition to a robust intramural athletics program, Wingate student-athletes compete in 24 NCAA Division II sports, and Wingate has won the South Atlantic Conference Echols Athletic Excellence Award the past 16 times it has been awarded.

Pink shirts, powerful purpose. 💗

Our Bulldogs joined Union Diversified Industries, Inc. athletes for the Pink Walk, coming together to raise awareness for breast cancer and show the power of community, inclusion, and support.

Every step makes a difference. 💗

Future leaders. Difference makers. A little busy, unapologetically authentic, and always family. 💙🐶💛

We asked students to describe Wingate in a single word, and the common denominator is clear: ambition backed by real community.

If you are looking for a place where you can lead, create, and stand out instead of getting lost in the crowd, come see it firsthand. Schedule your campus visit through the link below 🐾

A lasting legacy, now part of campus. 💙🐶💛

Wingate University dedicated G. Byrns and Alice B. Coleman Hall in honor of two people whose lives were deeply rooted in the Wingate community.

For more than five decades, Byrns Coleman poured into students as a professor, mentor and friend, while Alice Coleman supported students and the community through her work as an educator and the countless people she welcomed into her home.

Their legacy of caring for others, serving their community and making Wingate a special place will now live on through Coleman Hall.

Click below to read their story.

Byrns Coleman, a professor of religion, and his wife, Alice, were fixtures on campus and in the town of Wingate for five decades.

Today, we pause to reflect, remember, and honor the legacy of those we lost on September 11.
