The first day of school is Monday, August 31! Before the 2026–27 school year begins, please take a few minutes to log in to the Sapphire Parent Portal and complete your student’s Back-to-School Forms.

🏆 Congratulations, Mrs. Cortney Schall! 💙💛

We are proud to recognize Mrs. Cortney Schall as this year’s Elementary recipient of the Carolyn D. Connelly Devotion to Students Award!

This special award honors educators who, like Carolyn Connelly, give their heart and soul to the students of Bald Eagle Area—going beyond the classroom to make sure every child feels supported, encouraged, and valued.

Since joining BEA in 2005, Mrs. Schall has made a lasting impact as a classroom teacher, Intervention teacher, PBIS Coach, and active member of the Mountaintop Elementary community. From helping students grow in reading and math to creating school-wide activities, family events, and unforgettable experiences, she continually finds ways to put students first.

She gives her time. She gives her energy. She gives encouragement. And, most importantly, she gives her heart to our students. 💙

This special award honors the legacy of longtime BEA educator Carolyn Connelly, who was known for always going the extra mile for her students and school community.

Mrs. Ridgway carries that same spirit into everything she does. From creating meaningful experiences in the classroom to supporting her students at concerts, dances, trips, and activities, she makes sure each student feels valued, encouraged, and celebrated.

Bald Eagle Area School District is currently seeking motivated, dedicated professionals to fill three open positions:

🎨 Anticipated Long-Term Substitute — Art Teacher
📍 Middle/High School
📅 First Semester of the 2026–27 School Year
August 31, 2026 – January 20, 2027
Ideal applicants have a valid PA teaching certificate in Art Education PK–12.

🍎 Anticipated Elementary Special Education Teacher
This position provides specialized instruction and support for students with diverse learning needs while collaborating with families, teachers, and support staff to help every student succeed. Applicants must hold a valid PA teaching certificate in Special Education.

⭐ Director of Special Education & Student Services
This leadership position oversees the District’s Special Education program and coordinates student support services while ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. Qualifications include a master’s degree and applicable administrative and special education experience/certification.

At BEA, you’ll find the close-knit feel of a rural school community while being just a short drive from Penn State University and Lock Haven University.

Last week, our incoming kindergarten students got a head start on the school year during Kinder Camp!

Our newest Eagles had the opportunity to explore, meet new friends, get comfortable with their school surroundings, and experience some of the fun that awaits them in kindergarten.

We loved seeing all the smiles and excitement as these future Eagles prepared for their big first day. We can’t wait to welcome the Class of 2039 to BEA! ✏️🍎
