This week is "Teacher Appreciation Week". I couldn't think of a better way to share my appreciation for our staff at WMS than writing them this letter. Please take the time to let the teachers know you appreciate every single one of them. This job is difficult, and we will never have it perfected, but we will always be the best we can be. Your grace, encouragement, and love are so important. We appreciate your support! Please let them know!
Teachers,
This week is yours to enjoy truly. It is teacher appreciation week, and we shouldn't take it lightly. You are the unsung heroes in the heart of hundreds of students. Every one of us remembers a teacher that made an incredible impact on our lives. Whether they helped you figure out a passion, got you through a tough moment in life, or gave you a fist bump or high five and told you, you could be whatever you want to be. You are now that one teacher for that student who needs you the most. Who will look back one day and say, "Thank you for making me a better me, for caring enough, and for pushing me to be the best me."
You all work tirelessly to educate, inspire, and guide our students. I'm grateful for your time and effort in teaching our students. Your passions at WMS are truly infectious. You all are incredible mentors and role models for our students. You are kind and caring in nature but firm and fair when necessary.
This job is tough and often seems like it is getting tougher. More and more mandates, often feeling unsupported and unsure of your decisions, feeling as if teaching has been placed at the bottom of the work world. It hasn't. You are doing the most admiral and prestige job in the world. Without teachers, all the other jobs would cease to exist.
The most wonderful part of being a teacher is to know that many years down the road, there will be someone, somewhere, thinking about how lucky they were to have you as their teacher. They will tell their co-workers, family, and kids about you. Please never forget that you are a difference in the lives of students. YOU ARE WORTH IT!
I am thankful for each one of you!
