1. Welcome & Introductions - Everyone knows each other! We welcome others to join us thou!
2. Treasurers Report - The bank log looks great. Lots of good deposits.
3. Correspondence - We had additional 5th Grade notes that were so happy! Life skills. Then Mrs. Bodkins for Conference Food. 5th Grade said thank you for Parade supplies. Mrs. Litttrel a thank you for the beginning of the year gift. Country View Principal sent a thank you for Whittier purchasing Pies.
4. Principal Update -
a. Current Student Count - 256 Students Whittier. 13 Day School.
b. Staffing Update Full staff with 9 Para’s
c. Upcoming Events - 10/ 15 End of First Quarter
10/16 No School
10/ 23 Basketball at Southwestern College
10/28 K is going to Apple Jacks Pumpkin patch ranch
10/29 Character Trait Assembly
10/30 Halloween Parade.
11/2 new date for Cross Country Meet
11/ 3 Picture retakes
11/12 Fall Family Fun night 4:30 - 5:30
11/19 Whittier Concert in the Auditorium

5. Old Business -
a. Basketball Hoops - will be communicating via e-mail
b. Fundraiser - 9500.00 Deposited $ 22,000 in Retail Sales total
i. Delivery Date TBD - will use the gym

1. Top 10 Sellers – Lunch & Prize Bucket Date TBD - They will be alerted for when they will celebrate.
2. Top Class $ - Slush Party - Mrs. Wall top class with $4300.00 in sales
3. Top Class Participation – Slush Party Mrs. Roark 12 students participated

d. Holiday Pie Distribution – Friday, 11/20

i. Need to adjust timing w/ Sonic (4p-8p currently)
g. Pull tab collection – expansion to Country View in works - they will have 5 buckets and that will be nice to see if our two schools can give more than Andover.

a. Sound system for gym - noticed a need after the Spelling Bee. We got dimensions from Coach Drake and we have a recommendation. We will evaluate costs, etc.
b. Whittier Fall Family Fun Night – Nov 12 Tailgate night theme 4:30-5:30.
c. Custom School squishies with Vikings logo on it

🍪 Calling all bakers (or bakery shoppers)! 🧁

Whittier PTO will be providing two meals for our amazing staff during Parent-Teacher Conferences this week, and we’d love a little help making those meals extra sweet! 💙

We’re looking for 4 families to provide desserts for our staff.

If you’re willing to help, please comment below with what you plan to bring so we can get a good variety!

Tuesday, September 8 2026

1. Welcome & Introductions - Lots of new parents attended. (14 total parents)
a. Megan Cates, Vice President
b. New Staff - Lots of new staff started.
2. Treasurers Report - We now have a budget that we’ve implemented. We did start of the year gifts for the teachers. Proceeds from Sonic night. Irving gift in the beginning of the year.
a. Presentation of Annual Budget - Taylor reported
3. Correspondence - Last year thank you’s from teachers for the Soda Bar. It was a big hit. Irving thanked us as well for the coffee and donuts. Teachers sent really nice thank you’s for the start of the year gifts. It’s $100.00 cash gift for the teachers to spend how they see fit.
4. Principal Update - We need three more Para Pro’s . We just hired another Custodial position.
a. Current Student Count - 261 students 59 staff 13 at the Day School and 6 staff there. 2 attend Trinity
b. Staffing Update - 5th Graders have learned how to write thank you notes and they wrote PTO the sweetest Thank you’s. We have two newv RC Teachers,a new Secretary and a new office aid. 2nd Graders and K are also new teachers. We have one student teacher here as well as other SC students that are also currently in the building.
c. Upcoming Events - Spelling Bee is this week. 3, 4 and 5th grades participate. District is Dec 28th at the high school. Sept 28 - Oct 1 Whittier Book Fair. 25th is Homecoming Parade. Sept 30 - Oct 1 Parent Teacher Conference.
d. Teacher Reports -The Book curriculum wasn’t here at the beginning of the year. We changed systems and it has just been a work of progress.
5. Old Business -
a. 3rd grade dictionaries
i. Rotary giving classroom sets they will buy them for us
b. Student request letters - soccer goals/basketball hoops. We got new nets. The black top got sealed over the summer. To further help with the playground equipment we need to work with the Principal and BLT. Coach Drake stated that we could just replace the backboards of the basketball hoops.
c. Board approved increasing Whittier Scholarship to (2) per year. We would like to up it from 1 scholarship to two student scholarships. $250 up to $500. In theory we would like to do a boy and a girl.
6. Upcoming Events
a. Fundraiser
i. September 8-22nd it will run. Then we will reconcile on the 23rd. Have others that just don’t want to donate send directly to PTO so that we don’t have to pay a % to the company. Please.
ii. Prizes - The class that raised the most money and the class to have the most participate will get prizes. We already have Sonic Gift cards. Tentative Oct. 21st is where the truck will come.

b. 9/13 – Grandparents Day - We have 2 Grandma Voluneers.

i. 5th grade parade help - Famous Cities. San Fransisco. Whittier is a FULL House and relate it to the Show. 5th grade is Requesting money for the float. Paint, Poster Board etc.
d. 9 / 30 - 10/1 – PT Conferences
i. Sonic drinks - Thur 1st
ii. Meals PTO Wed 30 at 4:30 and Lunch Thur 1st
e. 10/2 – Custodian Day - will recognize on 9/30. We will then have three custodians.
7. New Business
a. Thanksgiving Pies - Last year from Werner Creek. This year we will do a Carriage Crossing Fundraiser from Country View. And we are happy to be supporting them.
b. Pull tab collection – expansion across elementary schools.. Becoming across the district potentially. Start with Country View, but Lowell also has done the pull tabs in the past…so maybe everyone. We donate to Ronald McDonald.
c. Skate Night date – October/November. Talking with Main Street now to select a date.
d. Bingo date – End of April potential date. Maybe Thursday March 25th…Doing more continuing games verse starting over games so there are more prizes.
e. Sonic date – in March sometime, 3:30P-6:30P.
8. Comments/Questions/Concerns/Suggestions
Bus loading Zone will be put in. Drop off is going well.
