Pumpkin Pants Ranch is the second Cowley County entity making headlines as one of 6 winners of the 2026 Huck Boyd Leaders of the Year in the Tourism category recognized by K-State's Huck Boyd National Institute for Rural Development. Make plans to go check out the ranch this fall!

John and Shelley Gardner enjoyed taking their two little boys to pumpkin patches. In 2009, the Gardners bought land that ultimately became the Pumpkin Pants Ranch, which includes more than 30 attractions and has attracted visitors from across the nation and overseas. It is Wits Workout Wednesday. This week's challenge is to think of various team mascot names. The image provides categories such as: domestic animals, wild animals, weather related names, birds, mythical creatures, warrior or other people groups, and insects. How many team mascots can you think of? Be inspired by your favorite teams from schools, semi-professional and professional teams.

Share in the comments mascot ideas that wouldn't make the cut!
