What a special surprise for Mrs. Jandrey this morning. Former students, Cam and Cooper Buffington stopped by to visit her. Both of these former students spent many hours volunteering and making a difference in her classroom.

A huge thank you goes out to the both of these former students for coming back today to say hello to Mrs. Jandrey and the students they helped with. It’s always wonderful to see our former students return and continue to spread positivity in our school community.

Several of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade TAG students are diving into the fascinating life cycle of the darkling beetle! 🪲

They are learning all about metamorphosis and the stages of a beetle’s life through hands on science. Each student is caring for two live mealworms, giving them names, observing their changes, and participating in a variety of experiments and activities. Along the way, they are practicing real scientific skills-asking questions, making observations, recording data, and tracking changes over time.

They are hoping our mealworms will complete their metamorphic transformation be the end of January. While they wait for them to grow into adulthood, our student scientists will also be researching other insects and exploring their life cycles.

The elementary was seeing green today!
Classrooms and hallways were filled with Grinch-inspired fun, from cozy pajama sets to festive green sweatshirts. The Grinch truly stole the spotlight!
As Dr. Seuss reminds us,
“And what happened then? Well, in Whoville they say that the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day.”
It was a wonderful day full of smiles, school spirit, and holiday cheer! 🎄💚

Our 2nd graders in Ms. Carlson’s and Mrs. Venghaus’ classrooms have been busy little builders!
Today they created Who houses for their very own Whoville, using creativity, teamwork, and lots of imagination. The excitement is building as they gear up for Grinch Day tomorrow—we can already feel the Wholiday cheer! 🎄✨💚

Ugly Sweater Day

Our elementary staff and students kicked off our week in the coziest (and ugliest!) way possible today! The classrooms were filled with bright colors, goofy patterns, jingle bells, pom-poms, and blinking lights. From reindeer to snowman to festive flair and fuzzy fun, holiday spirt was shown with big smiles and even bigger sweaters. Reminder-tomorrow is Tinsel Tuesday. We can’t wait to see our school shimmer!

⭐️Positive Office Referrals ⭐️

We are so proud of these two students for their outstanding acts of compassion, respect, and for encouraging their peers in their classrooms. Both of these students went out of their way to lift others up and show kindness. Their actions remind us all that small acts of encouragement can make a big difference. Keep up the amazing work!

Festive Fun With Our Peanuts Crew!
Today members of our elementary staff dressed up as characters from their favorite Christmas show — including a full cast from A Charlie Brown Christmas! From Woodstock, Snoopy, Linus, Peppermint Patty, Lucy, to Pig Pen — we had them all! Our halls are filled with laughter, joy, and plenty of Peanuts holiday spirit.
And the fun doesn’t stop here…
Next week is our Elementary Spirit Week!
We can’t wait to see all the creativity, excitement, and holiday cheer our students bring to each theme day!
Stay tuned — it’s going to be a magical and fun week!

📚 3rd Grade Adventures! 📚

Today our 3rd graders wrapped up their reading story “Little Free Libraries” and then took a trip to visit the two Little Free Libraries right here in Winfield!
They explored the motto “Take one, leave one” and talked about how these little libraries help spread a love for reading in our community. Each student got to pick a book and help stock one of the libraries—plus they added some fun bookmarks!
If you’re looking for a great read for any age, be sure to stop by and check them out. You never know what treasures you might find! 📖
