Some children look calm, quiet and “well behaved” on the outside - while inside they are overwhelmed by fear, worry and constant overthinking.
Anxiety in children does not always look like panic attacks or tears. Sometimes it looks like perfectionism, tummy aches, anger, avoidance, clinginess, shutting down or trying too hard to please everyone.
This is why so many anxious children are misunderstood, punished or labelled as difficult.
When adults understand what sits beneath the surface, children feel safer, calmer and more supported.
Every parent, teacher and professional working with children needs to see this. Share to help more people recognise the hidden signs of anxiety in children.
