It is my hope to share delicious healthy recipes and stories of sustainable living here at pHat pHlower pHarm. For myself. And I am NOT a doctor. Salud!

In creating this page it was my hope to bring together everything that is wonderful and awe-inspiring to me in the world of food and food as the life-force of our bodies. While food is the fuel for our body, at the same time, it can be a life-extinguisher if we ignore the signs our bodies are giving us. I believe with all my heart and passion that disease can thrive in an Acidic body whereas it ca

Irreverant Positivity! Been dipping into the vast vault of dark humor that is my SOUL. Sorry, NOT SORRY. The Human Experience is NOT for the weak. I got a jar of F's and I disperse them sparingly. It's ok to let that s**t GO! Breath in.... BREATH IT OUT!

It might be felt, that my angst and irreverence for institution and organized profiteering is nothing more than anger and disrespect...

I promise you... I don't actually have the energy to put out on things I know I cannot change. But I CAN have a laugh...

I will say, without pity on myself, I am often misunderstood. No doubt, largely due to my spicy brain and non-traditional ways of communication. However, navigating a healthcare system all alone for a lifetime, raw-dogging multiple autoimmune conditions, and multiple injuries from a serious MVC the past 3 years... has brought me to a whole new dimension of accessing the dark humor I've been storing in my minds vault for 40+ years now 🫥

I struggle with this but I also work consistently on the things I DO have the ability to change.

Sometimes I chuckle. Sometimes I get sad. I cry. I laugh... at the irony of the F*%kery, that is this lifetime. At the end of the day, I don’t got a lot of F's to give - the good, the bad, the ugly.... I CHOOSE TO LAUGH!

Want to learn "Gard-en Kung-Fu" 😆

pHat Mama is searching for a body double!

No joke, my friends. Every specialist, needs one of themselves. A good coach should recognize when they need some help as well!

While my mind continues to reason with my body that WE are no longer capable of 1/2 the tasks we used to be! With that said, I'm wasting a lot of energy redirecting myself 🤣

Due to delays in launching the program resulting in lack of funds, I will not be hiring an 2026 intern. BUT, I still need help! If you or anyone you know is interested, pHat Mama needs an individual who is passionate about sustainability and the local food chain, to "help" in the garden. Until Summer, I can also send you home with the cleanest fresh produce, cottage goods and fresh eggs - products you cannot buy anywhere else? Better than cold-heartless-cash anyhow, lol. If you don't eat veggies, I'm happy to discuss 1M ways to generously compensate your time.... Remember, I coach you to manifest literally, ANYTHING, you can think of? In the meantime, pHat Mama is building from the ground up. Again. Literally.

BODY DOUBLE (ideal) SPECIFICS:

*2-10 hours/week, Spring-Fall.

*Mornings or evenings ONLY (pHat Mama cannot work in peak light or heat of the day due to health).

*Schedule - no "schedule" - looking to bring on one individual who cares about making farm life easier and I'm very flexible and happy to accomodate the right person.

*Extensive plant knowledge - not critical.

*Ability to execute detailed instructions - critical.

*Presence in the garden - ability to move slowly and work with detail, care and intention. We do not rush the process.

*Physical Strength & Stamina - YES - I'm not gonna lie - the ONLY issue here is my body got benched, retired, yeeted from the physical labor force... SO, yes, I need one FIT person who LOVES to move wheelbarrows of soil and get muddy 😁

*Kick-ASS fun individual with a positive attitude that likes to use their body and mind to connect with nature - CRITICAL.

***THIS IS GAURANTEED FUN ☺️ and we move at a pace that feeds the soul.
***PLEASE SEND A MESSAGE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!!!

My page has been looking a little different lately. I decided I did not want to hide any longer. We wouldn’t all be here questioning our relationship with food if we weren’t already on a health journey. So in an effort to bring it full-circle, I’ll be talking A LOT more about physical and mental health.

It’s not often I hope for a “yes answer”. I strongly believe when on a complicated medical journey, that “no answers” are incredibly important and valid. Being given new information to work with is a gift, good or bad. Knowledge gives us the power to better envision and participate in our outcomes.

However, if I did get a yes today, it would provide countless answers to countless lifetime questions and in reality, be nothing but the most positive step.

I will say this a million times. And then I’ll say it again. It is not in your head. There are huge voids in the medical treatments of humans. I don’t believe in the “chicken before the egg” argument. It is not that simple. There are multiple processes of exponential development happening simultaneously that can result in more than one outcome and each separate possibility can have a different timeframe based on previous events…. and that, is trying to keep it simple. And that’s the point. It’s not. Western medicine does not need to keep separating the body from the mind. We’ve gone as far as compartmentalizing specialists to the point a foot doctor will tell you can walk just fine despite the fact your knee is on fire.

I will also say this a million times. I love most healthcare providers. (No doubt some have traumatized me beyond belief!) But I truly believe theres so many amazing doctors and medical professionals out there, and feel many are not able to do the job they signed up. Instead, going toe to toe with hospital networks and insurance companies all day long being prodded to line the pockets in the profit pipeline of American healthcare. They deserve a lot of credit ♥️

In the meantime!! Go out and get some fresh air!! “Science-Says” it’s good for your head (and health) I think Neil would agree 🤣

pHat peeps! A proposal to lease some divine space in Denver's historic Santa Fe Art District is staring me in the face; much like these gorgeous beauties

The pHat pHlower pHarm Coaching Practice has been given the chance at a 'brick n' mortar' location for The pHat Co-Op & Gourmet CSA! And I've never wanted anything more deeply... My lifes work is community leadership; this space allows for full expansion of that vision in every capacity I'd ever hoped for.

Do you know any investors? A Venture Capitalist? An Angel Investor? pHat Mama is on fire and actively looking for a financial partner with a passionate mind to bring this opportunity to fruition.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime shot for pHat pHlower pHarm to launch into full bloom. And it's all I can think about. I lost the last 2 years of my life. I'm coming to terms having lost my capabilities to be the powerhouse physical laborer and a productive person I've always been (in my mind), and thus a one-woman-show. I have a lot of 'making up' to do. And realize now, I can't do it on my own (that is so painful to say!)

I cannot do anything other than, KEEP MANIFESTING! I am blessed to have the support of the building owners, especially as they are founding members of the Denver art movement and I'm honored they support my vision. When I called last week to express I had not pulled together the funding, the response was, when you're ready we are. But that does not guarantee the space or secure the rent. I will not give up until I hear from the realtor that it's been leased otherwise.

Please, if you feel so inclined, I would love it whoever can, to hold a little space for me and my dreams in their thoughts.

My good ole' uber-sonic-metabolism-burner kicked on overnight because I woke up hungry. And I think it's finally stuck back where I like it, ON.
But I think I'm hungry for more than just food. I'm hungry to get my life back. I'm hungry to start showing up for my clients again - I missed you!! And if you missed me - I also missed the real me!
I am thinking of making my Thanksgiving Umami-Bomb Gravy to include as an add-on for an upcoming 'Gourmet CSA' subscription box item. I don't need cake. I don't need ice cream. I would like a second helping of this ridiculous overthrowing of a traditional gravy dish which I've considered elevating from such, to a straight up soup, stew or cassoulet. All I'm saying is, this dish holds it's own! Yes, it will marry everything on your plate in one big polygamous surprise! And you won't be disappointed in it's ability to unite everyone. Or you can let it shine over your favorite starch only to act as a carrier ship for this awesomeness....
And no, Thanksgiving is a time when my plate looks like the I scooped everything off the mess-hall floor, and I don't care! And yes, the neck is hands down the most amazing piece of meat on the turkey. Call me a weirdo. Still don't care. Thanks for the compliment!

I've mentioned before, I come from a very food motivated family. Does my personal hunger stem from early years of food insecurity or that food itself made me 'more hungry' because it seemed everything I ate made feel unwell.
I can say these experiences certainly helped shape the driving force of my love for creating foods that bring the body and mind, comfort, peace and calm.
On that note, in our house, we also believe fresh pumpkin pie is a perfectly suitable breakfast dish! Hello! Anti-inflammatory breakfast quiche, as I call it 🤣

On another note... if the neighbor kid keeps showing up oddly around dinner time... feed that child 🧡 is your cue to feed their stomach and heart and share some grace and courtesy. It takes a lot courage to stand there begging in silence.

Captain's Log; October 24, 2025:

The Hollyhocks are still, GOING OFF 🥰😍🥰

Another slow gradual decline in temps this Fall transition have kept many garden favorites thriving with a bit of crispness in the air.

Did you know the all parts of the Hollyhock are edible? Flowers, leaves, seeds and roots can all be prepared in different ways. Are they all incredibly palatable and delicious? No, lol. But I can tell you there are some fun and creative ways to prepare this atypical edible.

Also note: they are highly invasive. Every Hollyhock here at the pHarm is a volunteer 🤭 It is also a Biennial plant so it will build it's roots and vegetative growth the first year and put out a larger set of leaves and flowering stalk the second year.... patience, haha.

Dr. Kay Russo has been a veterinarian for 15 years and is a graduate of Cornell University. She’s now sounding the alarm about the growing H5N1 bird flu outbreak in U.S. cattle and calling for action before it’s too late.

With expertise in both dairy and poultry medicine, Kay was among the first to connect the dots when a mystery illness swept through dairy herds in Texas. She suspected early on that a virus known for devastating birds had likely jumped to cows. Tests later confirmed her fear that H5N1 had infected cattle for the first time.

Bird flu is highly lethal in poultry—close to 170 million birds have been culled during this outbreak so far, driving egg prices sky-high. The first detection of bird flu in cattle came in early 2024, and since then, it has spread to over 1000 dairy herds across the country.

H5N1 avian influenza is mutating and spreading rapidly, increasing the risk that it could evolve into a strain capable of efficient human-to-human transmission. That uncertainty—and the virus’s pandemic potential—is why Kay is speaking out so urgently about testing, worker protections, and coordinated preparedness.

So far, 70 Americans have contracted the virus, with one death reported in January. While the current risk to the general public remains low, the virus’s ability to infect a wide range of mammals is a serious concern.

What Kay is doing takes knowledge, persistence, and real courage. At a time when speaking out can come with professional risk, she’s using her voice anyway. We have enormous respect for her commitment to protecting both animal and human health.

Very, very proud of my dear friend. You know I only post off-topic about 1% of my content.

And this is that top content!

“Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History”

It takes a lot of guts to stand tall against a blazing fire. Never be afraid to speak your mind, to tell the truth, and to create change and, thus progress.

Thanks for leading the charge my friend ❤️
