The Loomis Institute was chartered in 1874 by five siblings who had lost all their children and selflessly determined to found a school as a gift to the children of others. Since its opening in 1914, the school has offered educational opportunities for boys and girls regardless of religious or political beliefs, national origin, or financial resources. Our students welcome the challenges of Loomis

β€œIsland Life Forever” was what one alumnus chose to have etched on his glass with the Loomis Chaffee crest. Reunion Weekend 2024 was in full swing, and he and others came to the Pearse Hub for Innovation (PHI) for the β€œFun in the PHI” activity, which included the opportunity to etch a souvenir from the weekend with help from Scott MacClintic ’82, the director of innovation.

Island life for the weekend of June 7–9 was all about alumni who returned to campus to reconnect with classmates, dine, dance, and catch up on the school today. Read more: https://bit.ly/3Rore3K

Mary Jeppsen ’71 writes: "In 2018, my book on working with co-parents was published by Routledge Press. Since then, I have continued my counseling practice and moved to Dauphin Island, Alabama, to retire. No retirement is in sight at this point! In addition to counseling, my family and I have founded an art gallery, Serah's Rainbow, in Mobile, Alabama. It is a gallery and art space for art made by individuals with special needs. Our youngest has Down syndrome, and this is her business. We had a gallery opening recently that was reported in ten cities on the news! I recently presented with an international group at the American Art Therapy Association conference in San Diego about my work with First Aid of the Soul, an organization dedicated to providing mental health support to Ukrainians affected by the Soviet invasion. Needless to say, life is good and meaningful."
