MCC will offer ACHR (Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration) courses at night this fall. This should be helpful to students who work during the day but would like to earn a credential in a high demand field like ACHR. The ACHR classes starting on August 15 include; Intro to Refrigeration (6-9 p.m., M-W), HVACR Electricity (3:30 - 5:30 p.m., M-W, and Comfort Cooling (1 - 3:15 p.m. M-W). MCC is happy to announce that James Barnes is the new Automotive Systems Technology instructor on the Williamston Campus. Barnes was formerly an instructor for MCC on the Bertie High School campus. The Automotive Systems Technology curriculum prepares individuals for employment as Automotive Service Technicians. Numerous one-semester certificates are available through this program. MCC's Division of Continuing Education is offering Concealed Carry training on Saturday, June 22 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., on its Windsor campus. This is an 8-hour class that will explain to students the aspects of the North Carolina Concealed carry Handgun law as it applies to the rights of a citizen to carry a concealed handgun. Students will cover laws concerning the use of deadly force, laws governing areas concealed weapons may be carried, and rules and ideas of gun safety. The fee is $70. MCC's Division of Continuing Education is offering Forklift Operator training on the Williamston campus, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 22. This course provides instruction on the operation and maintenance of an industrial forklift. Core topics include forklift design, controls and instrumentation, pre-use inspection, safety awareness, and forklift stability. This course meets the training requirements for related Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. The fee is $70. MCC's Division of Continuing Education is offering both, a day and night class, in Wreath and Bow Making on its Williamston Campus. The daytime class will be held from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., starting on June 18 and ending on August 6. The evening class will be held from 6 - 8:30 p.m., starting on June 19 and ending on August 7. In this class, you will learn basic wreath making techniques, the principles of scale and symmetry, as well as how to create gorgeous decorative bows, garlands, swags, and more.
