Dear ELC Community,

It is with great pleasure that I would like to introduce you to our new First Church Early Learning Center Director Ms. Katherine “Kate” Bodmer. Ms. Bodmer has spent her entire career as an early childhood educator with a commitment to giving our youngest children a good start in their education. For the last 13 years, Ms. Bodmer has been the Director of the Early Learning Center at the Glastonbury satellite location of the Jewish Community Center of West Hartford. She has also served as an Educational Specialist at the Springfield Head Start. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lasell College in Human Development: The Psychological Development of the Young Child. Ms. Bodmer brings a wealth of knowledge in the field as well as the leadership skills to make our center run smoothly. Ms. Bodmer has a very “hands-on” style and will often be in the classroom with the children for activities like “Cooking with Kate.” I know you will be as impressed with her as our entire search committee has been.

Ms. Bodmer will be starting her tenure as director on June 17th. Please give her a warm welcome, and help her to get to know our wonderful community. I know you share my love and appreciation for the First Church ELC, especially its teachers and staff, for making a difference in the lives of our children. As we welcome our new director, we will continue the high standards that has marked our center for more than 60 years.

We are currently accepting cover letters and resumes for Substitute Teachers. Experience in Early Childhood is a plus. The time for this position will vary between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday based on the needs of the school. CURIOUS to know what is happening at First Church Early Learning Center of Windsor? The children in our Full Day three-year-old preschool class learned about author H.A Rey as they read Curious George books. They then made monkeys, yellow hats, and used their math skills to mix together ingredients to create delicious monkey bread!
