As Catholic Schools Week comes to a close, it is the perfect time to reflect on the immense gift of Catholic education. We are so blessed to have a school like St. John Paul II High School right here in Northern Colorado. At JP2HS, our students don’t just learn subjects; they encounter the living Word of God every day within their classrooms. It is a rare and beautiful environment that forms both the mind and the soul.

This mission is made possible by the "cloud of witnesses"—the saints who paved the way for us. This week, The Denver Catholic featured an inspiring look at 10 patron saints who dedicated their lives to students and teachers. From St. Thomas Aquinas to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, these holy men and women remind us that education is a path to sanctity.

Today, October 22nd, is the feast day of our namesake, St. John Paul II! He was a gifted writer, an athlete, and a fearless advocate for human dignity. From his humble beginnings in Poland to traveling the world as Pope, his life showed us what it means to "be not afraid"!

Our students kicked off the day with a beautiful, solemnity Mass and continued the celebration with fun activities throughout the day.

The celebration continues this Saturday, October 25 from 4-9 pm. Join us at Our Lady of the Valley Parish for our Annual Fall Feast Day Festival.

In observance of Cabrini Day, there is no school today at St. John Paul II High School.

We pause to honor the life and profound legacy of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (Mother Cabrini). As the first American citizen to be recognized as a saint and the Patron Saint of Immigrants, Mother Cabrini devoted her life to service. Her work, which included establishing 67 schools, orphanages, and hospitals worldwide, perfectly embodies the values of faith, education, and compassion that guide our mission here at St. John Paul II High School.

We encourage our entire community to reflect on her inspiring example of tireless dedication to the poor and vulnerable.
