Our Windham High School Cook, Amanda Bowden, was recognized as Maine School Nutrition Association's Employee of the Year this week at Maine School Nutrition Association's annual conference.

Amanda brings creativity, dedication, and leadership to the kitchen at Windham High School. Whether she's creating innovative, delicious meals for nearly 1,000 students or catering district-wide events, her passion, adaptability, and commitment to quality make her a standout employee.

Amanda began her School Nutrition career as a kitchen helper and was quickly promoted to baker in recognition of her creativity and culinary skill. She then stepped up to be the cook at Windham High School, a school serving nearly 1,000 students—an experience that inspired her to pursue a career in culinary arts. Amanda recently earned her associate degree in Culinary Arts.

We are grateful that you are on our team Amanda! Congratulations!

We are so fortunate that we have 2 of our team members attending 5210 Let's Go!'s Culinary Skills for School Meals Training this summer! Check out our assistant cook, Emily, from Windham Primary School cafeteria making some delicious broccoli this week at the Auburn training! And you may recognize Chef Sam in the second photo! Sam was our very first district chef & we still love collaborating with her & Culinary Skills for School Meals! We are powering up for the new school year, with fresh skills & new inspiration!

Chef Ryan and School Nutrition Director Jeanne Reilly caught up with our JSMS Assistant Cook at the Culinary Skills for School Meals - Maine training at Noble High School in North Berwick Maine! Coral had an amazing week learning new culinary skills and concepts with about 24 other school nutrition professionals from York and Cumberland County!

Coral graduated from this training today and she is excited & ready for the school year to begin!

Congratulations Coral! 🎉 You are a shining star 🌟

Today is National Ice Cream Day, and it sure feels like the perfect day to celebrate! Either celebrate big by heading to your local ice cream shop or keep it healthy with some delicious "nice cream" made with blended bananas! It is surprising how creamy & smooth it is!

You only need 2 ingredients to make this healthy ice cream, strawberries and bananas! It is dairy free, vegan, and gluten free! The perfect healthy treat!
