What a day in Windham! 🍁🎨

It was a perfect fall afternoon for the Pop Up Art Gallery — crisp air, bright color, and a whole lot of creativity flowing under the tent.The community painting wall turned into a joyful explosion of expression from artists of all ages.

Huge thanks to the students of the Arts Academy of New Hampshire in Salem for sparking so much color, fun, and fearless creativity. You helped make the wall come alive.

A beautiful day, a beautiful community, and art that keeps us smiling.

"Patti, out of Lowell Ma., discovered the art of Gyotaku ("fish rubbing") after retirement. It's a very old print technique, dating back to the early 1800s in Japan, but today is an art form that also includes leaves, feathers, shells, shellfish... Anything with gorgeous details. Using both inks and acrylics on gorgeous Asian papers or fabric, Patti loves to capture the subject's exact unique and beautiful details. More of her pieces are displayed at Arts League of Lowell as well as local Gallery exhibits."

"Neil Fallon is a New Hampshire based ceramic artist who creates work primarily using a potters' wheel. His vessels are inspired by mid-century potters who worked in stoneware and fired in atmospheric kilns."

"Doreen Arnfield has been casually painting over the last 13 years. Recently retired, she has ramped up her hours in the studio and is delighted with the results. Working with color lights her up. Doreen recently joined the greater Salem Art Association and has found a community that shares her passion. She is learning new watercolor, acrylic and mixed media techniques and isn’t afraid to experiment. “Making greeting cards, satisfies the practical part of me. Abstract painting allows me to play. And recently I found realism surprisingly fun.”

'Yellow Shed Pottery: I am a part time potter in Derry NH. My work uses a combination of wheel throwing and hand building to create functional art. I ask 'what makes us feel an object is special?' Objects that have been through or are in the process of transition are particularly intriguing to me. They speak to me of the vastness of possibility while at the same time bringing me into the moment here and now. They represent aspects of change that are both beautiful and terrible, depending one one's point of view. My work attempts to explore the ravages and riches of life, time, history and growth."
