Keeping students safe during bad weather is a priority for Orange County Public Schools. The 30-30 Rule is an important one for all parents to understand. Here's an image that explains this 30-30 Rule - might be a good one to print & keep on the fridge.

Q: What determines which families get bus service and which don’t?
A: Determining the two-mile limit for OCPS school bus transportation is outlined in Florida Department of Education’s (FDOE) Rule 6A-3.001. Essentially the distance is measured from a point where the student’s home property meets the public right of way (in the case of a gated subdivision with a private road system, it is where the subdivision’s entrance meets the public right of way) to the nearest building entrance of the assigned school. It is the shortest pedestrian route whether or not it is accessible to motor vehicles. All other students whose homes fall within two (2) miles of their assigned school unless otherwise designated are ineligible for OCPS school bus transportation. If you have additional questions about your particular home address and student transportation, please call the Transportation help desk at 407-317-3807 so they can assist you personally.

OCPS Transportation moves nearly 70,000 students each day, and we need all bus riders to understand the safety rules. Please, go over these rules with your student before school starts to ensure a safe, pleasant ride for all.

Great news! Students that live in Buena Place Apartments will receive busing this year as it is a hazardous walking condition for those students. (There isn't a four foot walkway between Buena Place and Newmarket Dr.) We will continue to post busing updates for students as we receive them.
