What is the PTO?
PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization. At Sunset Park Elementary, our PTO is a non-profit organization of volunteer parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers, and staff. We work together to enrich our students' educational experience, support our teachers, enhance our school, and build a strong, welcoming community for every family.
What does the PTO do?
Our PTO works behind the scenes—and sometimes front and center—to support our school, teachers, and students in many ways!
📚 Supporting Teachers & Classrooms
The PTO helps provide classroom supplies and educational resources through teacher grants, and hosts Teacher Appreciation Week, seasonal luncheons, and morale-boosting treats throughout the school year that help our teachers and staff feel supported and valued.
🎉 Creating Fun Experiences for Students
We help support and organize special events, family activities, celebrations, and school experiences that students can look forward to throughout the year. Fun events we've already hosted this school year are Bubble Bash for all new students as well as Popsicles on the Playground and Boo Hoo Yahoo Breakfast for incoming Kindergartners and their parents. Some exciting upcoming events include: Grandparents Night, Trunk or Treat, Eagle Family Fun Fest and the Eagle Store.
💰 Fundraising for Our School
Fundraising allows the PTO to provide additional resources, programs, activities, and opportunities that benefit our students and school community.
🏫 Supporting Our School
PTO funds and efforts help with school-wide needs, student programs, enrichment opportunities, campus safety and beautification, and projects that enhance the school experience. Some recently completed projects we are proud to share are the Go Eagles chain link fence art cups, front lobby mural, and new sound systems in the cafeteria and outdoor car line area. We are also excited to be involved with the outdoor classroom, which is in the works!

We create opportunities for families and staff to connect, get to know one another, share ideas, and work together toward a common goal: supporting our Eagles!
💡 Giving Families a Voice
PTO is also a place where parents and guardians can share ideas, offer suggestions, and help identify ways we can make our school community even stronger.
Why Join the PTO?
Joining the PTO is a great way to stay connected with our community. Simply becoming a member shows your support. We know families are busy, and everyone's schedules are different. Joining PTO does not mean you are required to volunteer, attend every meeting, or participate in every event. If you want to volunteer when your schedule allows, we'd love to have you—but there is no obligation! Whether you can give your time, share an idea, make a donation, attend an event, support fundraising efforts or simply become a member, your support matters and every family’s participation is valued on their own terms. Every family makes our PTO stronger. Every contribution makes a difference. Every Eagle benefits when we work together!
