Many times leaders make is the mistake of trying to do too much when they don't have to. You were not made to do everything. As a leader you need to need to work with what you got. Work with your God-given natural talents and skills, and then help the others around you to cultivate theirs. This will help your team be a more effective unit, because you will always operate at a higher level in a skill set that you are already good at.

So start identifying your sweet spot and stay in it. Then begin to look at others around you to fill the areas that you are not naturally efficient in. When evaluating others have the understanding that many times they do not know their unique area of giftedness. So therefore as a leader you need to be able to evaluate talent, cultivate it and then put it to work.

In 2016 I met a person whom GOD used to transform my life forever. He is my Pastor and has been like a father to me. I have just read his new book and it is extremely powerful and embodies who he is as a man of GOD, and how GOD uses him to impact all who come within his influence for the glory of GOD. I encourage anyone who wants to become who GOD created them to be to get this book.

The secret to consistently leveling up is finding an area that you need to work on, and then maxing it out until you can not level it up any farther. Once this is accomplished you find another area that you need to work on and repeat the process. This develops a mastery mindset and that will keep you on a path of growth throughout your lifetime.

When you set smart goals they need to be in a progression that leads to consistent growth. Stop focusing all your attention on your highlight reels, and identify areas in your game that you need to level up. Once you do this make goals for those areas you need to enhance, focus on attacking them one at a time, and each time you accomplish one then move onto the next area. Once you become well rounded then make the goals harder and continue to repeat the process.

When you identify who you are and have taken a thorough self-assessment, you will know what you are good at and the areas you are not. After this identification process, then the focus should be on building up those around you who are good in the areas you are weak at. This is why knowing who you are as an individual is one of the major prerequisites of leadership, because you can not help others identify who they are unless you know who you are.
