🏆 We won Best Education Service in The Local’s Best of the Best 2026 and I’m still processing it because, I didn’t exactly plan this.
I was a teacher. Then a school counselor. My husband got transferred and in July 2019, I flew down for what was supposed to be a week of house hunting. My mom had just been placed on hospice, so that week turned into 48 hours. I was racing to get back to say goodbye (I did), and somehow in the middle of all of that, this place just felt right. I can’t explain it better than that.
I figured I’d land in a school, do what I always did, work with teenagers. Covid had other plans.
What started as a handful of Zoom calls with families during the pandemic slowly became College Solutions Windermere. Not exactly the business plan I had in mind, but then again, I didn’t have a business plan.
This community welcomed me with open arms when I had nothing but a gut feeling, and I will never stop being grateful for that.
I tell my students all the time: the universe has a way of working it out. You will land where you belong. And ain’t that the truth.
Thank you, Winter Garden. Thank you, Windermere. Thank you to every family who trusted me with your kids.

Today I’m thinking about my dad.

He was a first-generation American, the son of Irish immigrants, and he believed our communities are only as strong as our schools. He spent his whole career living that belief, as a coach, a teacher, a school counselor, a principal, and finally a superintendent (didn’t love that one so much!).

But before any of those titles, he was my dad. And he was the best one.

Ours wasn’t the biggest house on the block, far from it. But it was the house everyone wanted to be invited to. You’d wake up to bagels and donuts on the counter, and my dad asking what you wanted out of life — really asking, and really listening. Then he’d go find a way to help make it happen. If a kid’s parents couldn’t take them on a college visit, he did.

I lost my dad in 2012, and there’s a void nothing fills. But every memory reminds me how lucky I was to call him mine, and how much of what I do today, sitting across from kids and their dreams, started at our kitchen table.

Cheers to all the dads out there who make their house the one kids want to be invited into. 🥯❤️

UCF received 70,030 first-year applications and admitted 28,612 students — admits hail from 79 countries, 50 states + DC and Puerto Rico, and 843 Florida high schools.

Burnett Honors College admits averaged:
🌟 4.52 GPA | 1471 SAT | 33 ACT

Top 5 majors: Mechanical Engineering, Finance, Biology/Biomedical Sciences, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science

97% of admits took accelerated coursework in high school, and 70% were admitted with all A’s and B’s.

🐊 UF Admissions Update:

📈 96,011 applications for Fall 2026 — a record, up 78% since 2021
⭐️ Honors applications nearly doubled in that same span (22,216!)

Admitted Class of 2030 profile:
• GPA mid-50%: 4.5–4.7
• SAT mid-50%: 1420–1520
• ACT mid-50%: 32–35

UF continues to attract an incredibly talented applicant pool 💙🧡

🚨 Big news, the University of Florida just announced Early Decision for the 2026–27 application cycle, and there are a few things you need to know before jumping in.
ED has an October 15 deadline — that’s earlier than EA — and decisions come out December 11.

🎓 Rising seniors — University of North Florida opens its Fall 2027 freshman application on July 1, and early applicants get real perks.
Apply by July 31 to potentially waive the $200 deposit. Submit everything by Sept. 2 and receive your decision by Sept. 16. Early applicants also get priority scholarship and financial aid consideration, plus first access to housing and the Honors College.

🎓 Big News from Florida State University!
FSU is introducing Early Decision for the very first time, beginning with the Class of 2027!
📅 Early Decision Deadline: October 15
📬 Decisions Released: December 17
ED is binding and available to domestic first-year applicants. FSU will also continue to offer Early Action (for Florida residents only) and Regular Decision, so students have options depending on their readiness.
