Barrow County Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 4780 is a labor union for the City of BCES Firefighters. We proudly represent the members of IAFF Local 4780 pertaining to all elements of: health, safety, and benefits/wages. The local also holds a responsibility to the community to ensure our members are providing the most effective and efficient service possible. We desire to foster a working strong relationship, and hope to build bridges to bring together our community will promoting fire and life safety initiatives. The local is dedicated to work hand in hand with the BOC, the Citizens of Barrow and Department leadership on training, equipment, and other issues. Every year national there are 3,000 civilian and 110 firefighter fatalities. Fire also accounts for 17,500 civilian and 31,490 firefighters injured. The economic impact of fire is a net loss of $11.3 Billion, nationally. Local 4780, PFFG and the IAFF continue to work to minimize this number through safety, awareness, training, and increasing the manpower necessary to fight fires, Technical Rescue, and Haz-Mat.
