Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Wi******er Elementary's new principal, Emily Veale!

For Emily, joining Wi******er is particularly special. Roseburg has been home for the past 23 years, where she and her husband, Adam, raised their family and watched both of their children grow up in Roseburg Schools. Along the way, teachers, coaches and staff made a lasting impact on their children and helped shape Emily's own connection to our schools and community.

Emily's career in education also began right here at Hucrest Elementary. She later joined the South Umpqua School District, where she served as a principal and Director of Student Services, while continuing to stay connected to the Roseburg community through years of involvement with Roseburg Lacrosse.

Now, she's excited to be back in Roseburg Schools and, most of all, back in a school building working directly with students, staff and families.

At the heart of Emily's approach is a belief that strong schools are built through strong relationships. She wants students to know they are valued, supported and believed in, and she looks forward to building partnerships with Wi******er families as they work together to help every student thrive.

We're excited for Wi******er families to get to know Emily and for all that lies ahead for the Wolves this year.

We are looking forward to our Meet the Teacher event! 🍎 August 27th from 4:00-6:00 PM 🍎

Something special happens in our classrooms before students ever walk through the door.

Our teachers are preparing for more than the start of a new school year. They’re learning names, preparing lessons and thoughtfully creating spaces where every child can feel welcomed, known and excited about what lies ahead.

Meet the Teacher is one of the first opportunities to begin building those connections. It’s a chance for students to meet the person who will be cheering them on throughout the year, become familiar with their new classroom and begin turning some of those first-day nerves into confidence and excitement.

It’s also the beginning of an important partnership with families. When teachers and families know, understand and support one another, we create a stronger foundation for students to learn, grow and thrive.

Elementary Meet the Teacher events are Thursday, Aug. 27:

Fir Grove: 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Fullerton: 9:30–11:30 a.m.
Green: 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Sunnyslope: 4–6 p.m.
Eastwood: 12–2 p.m.
Wi******er: 4–6 p.m.
Hucrest: 1–3 p.m.
Melrose: 4–6 p.m.

Our teachers can’t wait to open their classroom doors and welcome students and families into the spaces they’ve been preparing especially for them!

Because before the lessons, projects and learning begin, there is something we want every child to know: You belong here. We’ve been preparing for you. And we’re so glad you’re here.
