Our Primary, Kindergarten aged, friend is so proud of his tackling of this decimal system lesson. Montessori math materials are designed to provide concrete support from beginning counting to more advanced math concepts. This allows the child to come to their own understanding of these concepts faster.
It’s been an incredibly busy season at WMS filled with unforgettable memories and lots of fun! We can't wait to share more of our adventures this school year!
Our Elementary Annual Kite Day is always a much anticipated event. This year was no exception and it was a beautiful and fun afternoon!

Another example of math at the Elementary level. The thousand chain serves the purpose of linear counting, to strengthen the child's abilities in counting from 1 to 1,000. This lesson and work is also indirectly preparing the child for squaring and cubing to come in later lessons and works.

This younger Elementary student is deeply engaged in a fractions lesson. Montessori math uses manipulative materials, providing both a physical experience and visual reference. This forms a concrete understanding of basic math concepts. As children progress with math lessons, their concrete understanding of math naturally progresses to the ability to think abstractly.

Mrs. Sheehy meets our new Book Drop Robot! This friendly addition to our library was built and donated by our friends Greg Armstrong, Victoria Kidd-Armstrong, Christy Berghoff and Lydia! Our school library recently received a complete revamp by Greg and Victoria and now has been named the Armstrong-Kidd Library. We are very thankful and happy you are all a part of our school community!

WMS will be closed Thursday, December 15th, due to forecasted icy weather conditions.
Fall has been a wonderful time here at WMS. From our annual Fall Festival with community helpers to sending one of our much loved assistants off on new adventures, it has been busy and full of life. We welcomed some new axolotl friends to our classrooms and our students have been hard at work. We hope you enjoy this brief look into our school community during the fall months!
