A heartfelt moment followed as incoming president Kathy Holt presented a special gift of earrings and red roses to outgoing President Debra Dickey in appreciation of her outstanding leadership and dedication over the past six years.

DKG Feb. 9, 2026

This meeting was held in the Broadview School Library with 15 members in attendance. President Debra Dickey was not able to be in attendance due to another obligation. VP Erin Wallace called the meeting to order.

After members filled their plates with delicious food provided by the Broadview Retired Teachers. Janet Womack read the minutes from the November 2025 meeting. Jo Lynn Schultz gave the Treasurer’s Report. Cindy Callaway made the motion to to accept the minutes and the treasurer’s report. It was seconded by Rachel Brown.

Erin explained that the guest speaker, Karter Pinkleton who is the FC STEM teacher and Science Instructional Coach, was unable to come due to a scheduling conflict. Karter had planned to demonstrate the Virtual Reality Goggles. Erin was able to secure a set of the VR Goggles for us to use to experience 2 amazing underwater scenes. She explained that Broadview and Decherd share a classroom set of these goggles. There’s also a set that belongs to the STEM program. Karter will come to a classroom and do a lesson with the students.

The group was reminded that its time to nominate officers for the next school year (2026-27). Officers serve a 2 year term. Debbie Zimmerman seems to be the only remaining member of the nomination committee. Debbie explained that she is concerned about the stability of our chapter. Most of the current officers are finishing the 6th year of serving. We really need some others to step up and be willing to serve. Debbie reminded the group that a lack of willingness to take an office was the reason that the Tullahoma chapter disbanded. The Treasurer is not an elected office but rather is assigned. All other offices are elected for a 2 year term. They are as follows:
PRESIDENT, 1ST VICE PRESIDENT, 2ND VICE PRESIDENT, RECORDING SECRETARY, CORRESPONDING SECRETARY, PARLIAMENTARIAN (President rolling off). Debbie asked the members to seriously consider taking an office and said she would be making calls.

The March 12 meeting will be held at the BOE in the conference room. Dr. Alsup will be our guest speaker.
April 11 will find us at FCHS Library for induction of new members and Founder’s Day

The scholarship program was restated. The current scholarship selection guidelines state that Motlow students with 24 completed hrs and going into education can apply for this scholarship. The committee will select from the applicants. The last scholarship was given to an aid working in the FCHS Library who was taking classes to become a teacher. This change was approved by the membership but not made a permanent procedure. In the fall of 2026 all committees need to be revisited and brought up to date. In order to do this an updated member’s list will be needed.

Meeting adjourned.

Janet Womack
Recording Secretary
